... So, there you have it. What did you think? Hopeless?
For those of you who asked for longer chapters last time, I'm sorry. The chapters are what they are, I'm afraid. I go by content, not wordage.EpilogueSix months later...
Doctor Daniel Jackson, Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter, and Teal'c stepped through the Stargate's event horizon, a moment later finding themselves on an alien planet halfway across the galaxy.
Daniel looked around.
As far as planets go, this one looked peaceful, pleasant. This world had a large moon, visible even during the day. Rolling fields of green stretched off in every direction, and the sky was a gorgeous azure. A well-worn dirt path wound off, away from the gate.
"Let's get moving," Sam said.
Preliminary surveys suggested that the people of this world had advanced to a point approximately equivalent to sixteenth century Earth.
They started walking.
This world's gate address came from the list of addresses entered by then Colonel Jack O'Neill, while under the influence of an ancient alien repository of knowledge.
That meant that the Goa'uld might not have discovered it yet.
More important, it meant this world was once touched by those same aliens, the Ancients. It meant they might find something here that could help in defending Earth.
The UAV they sent up showed a set of ruins nearby, maybe a temple or something left behind by the Ancients. They could just see the ruins on the horizon.
Their road reached an intersection, and just as they arrived, so did a young woman. She had long golden blonde hair, a warm tan face, and clear green eyes. She was dressed in simple clothes: a long dark dress that looked too big for her and a pair practical boots.
"Hello," Daniel said.
"Hi," the young woman said, offering them a smile.
"My name is Daniel Jackson. That's Sam, and Teal'c," said Daniel. "We're peaceful explorers, from the planet Earth."
Okay, it wasn't quite take-me-to-your-leader, but it was how they introduced themselves.
"I'm Joan," the young woman said. "So, what brings you to our corner of the galaxy?"
