Feedback, It's the coin of the realm.

New Watcher’s Council London, England

Xander’s cell phone started ringing.

“Hello?”

“Please hold for President David Palmer.” Xander almost dropped his phone. He hadn’t thought of the former President in a long while. He had been busy. ‘What could he want with a one eyed carpenter that works with a historical society in London?” A deep voice shook him out of his thoughts.

“Mr. Harris? This is President David Palmer.”

“Yes, Mr. President. How can I help you?”

“I regret to tell you, but Jack Bauer has been killed.” If Xander was never involved in the life of Buffy Summers, he would have dropped the phone. Death wasn't anything new to Xander, but Jack was a friend. He’d mourn later.

“When is the funeral, Mr. President?”

“Three days. I’d like to meet you. You were in Jack’s will. He left you a key to a safety deposit box in DC. Any idea what that could be?”

“No idea, sir. Mr. President, if I’m to be in DC in three days, I need to go to my flat and pack. With your permission, sir?”

“Sure, Alexander. I’ll see you in three days.” Xander went to his desk and got a book out.

“Janus, Possessions and Rituals Eleventh Edition. There’s also a chapter on retrieving the skills that I slowly lost from the spell years ago.” He needed to talk to Giles. Xander grabbed his office phone and called his secretary. “Susan. Call Mr. Giles for me, please. Tell him I’m on my way to his office. I need to talk to him.”

“Of course, Xander.” Xander started picking up his office. A few minutes later he was headed to see his surrogate father.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Giles.”

“Xander. What do you need to talk to me about?”

“A friend of mine from a few years ago died. His funeral is in three days. I’m taking my two weeks vacation now.”

“And who was your friend?”

“Jack Bauer. He worked for the Counter Terrorism Unit. He was the one who helped me talk my way past the guard so I could borrow the rocket launcher to destroy the Judge. He helped me with the fertilizer bomb that blew up the Mayor and kept the FBI off our asses. He helped keep our names out of the Initiative files when the Initiative went all to hell. He has helped us in the past. I want to pay my respects.”

“Fine.” Giles noticed the book in his hands. “A little light reading for your flight?”

“No. I want you to authorize our mystics to do the spell on page 166. On that Halloween night Ethan showed up, I unknowingly went as Jack Bauer. I have a feeling his skills will be needed again.”

“Are you sure? Retrieving the effects from Janus is.”

“No problem. I won’t be possessed by Jack, but I will get his skills and knowledge back. I have this gut feeling I’ll need them soon.”

Giles looked at what Xander wanted and raised his eyebrows. He sighed. “You’re right, Xander. There is no problem. It will take a couple hours to prepare the potion needed. What will you be doing during that time?”

“I’ll be at my place packing for my vacation. There is one thing I need you to tell the girls. I’m fine, just paying my respects to a friend. They’ll understand when you tell them why.”’

“Will do, my boy.” The two men shook hands and left to do their respective errands. Xander needed clothes, money, passport and diplomatic immunity identification. Giles to get him a first class ticket and the potion. It was going to be a busy morning.
