When everyone returned to their senses, Willow had disappeared. Having returned to her own body. Xander walked into lobby of the costume shop and noticed two things. Willow was no where around, and there was a guy on the floor with blood coming out of his mouth and the contents of his pockets had fallen out. Xander looked the unconscious man over. When Xander touched his ribs, Ethan involuntarily winced in pain.
“His ribs are hurt. Anyone know how to hotwire a car so we can get him to a hospital?”
“Why should we care? This guy caused the chaos. He should suffer for what he’s done.” Buffy was getting enraged. Xander noticed this.
“Whoa. Calm down, Buff.” For some reason, Buffy did calm down. Angel and Cordelia noticed this the same time Xander did. “We can not allow a man to die because he caused this. If he’s dead, how can he learn not to do this again? Buffy, pick him up and let’s get him to a hospital.”
As Buffy was picking him up, Cordelia noticed something shiny on the floor. It was a shiny key chain with the Mercedes Benz emblem on the end of it. She picked it up.
“Uh, guys. We don’t need to steal a car.” She held up the car keys and shook them. They didn’t see a Mercedes in the street, but they did in the parking area in the back. It was a big black car, the obvious overcompensating joke would have been told, but the situation they were in was too serious for jokes.
“I’m driving. It IS a Mercedes, after all. And Dweeb, take your mask off.” And when Xander went to feel his face, he was relieved when he didn’t feel any scars. On the passenger’s side of the Mercedes, Xander looked into the side view mirror. The comic book geek in him was glad he looked like he always did and didn’t look like a young Stan Lee. The artists of the Fantastic Four comics put Stan’s face on Doom in those frames that Doom took his mask off.
“Excelsior!” Xander couldn’t help himself from saying Stan’s catchphrase. The trip to the hospital was a quick one. When they got to the hospital, Buffy carried him in, got a nurse for Ethan than left. It wasn’t her responsibility if Ethan had insurance or not. She’d return later when he woke up and have a few words with him. That is if Xander didn’t get there first and ruin her fun.
‘Xander would never deny me my fun at terrorizing that idiotic chaos mage. How did I know he was a chaos mage?’ Buffy realized something.
“Xander. Do you remember anything from being my fa… Dr. Doom tonight?”
Xander closed his eyes and thought for what seemed like a long time. He looked deep inside himself and saw Victor von Doom standing in the middle of a white room. Standing next to Victor was Xander. Then they merged. Everything Doom knew, Xander now knows. Everything Doom could do, physically and mystically, Xander could do. Xander was smiling as he opened his eyes.
“Yes, Buffy. I remember everything about earlier. Like how Angel has to leave town and you forever or have a new home in an ashtray. I’m hoping he stays. I need a lab rat for my experiments.” Just then, the idea of having two puppets with high pitched voices that looked like Dr. Doom appearing over his shoulders cheering him on sounded like a good idea.
As Cordelia was driving the core group of Scoobies around Sunnydale, they noticed Willow in her punk rock getup crossing the street. They pulled up beside a van that had a guy driving it smile as she walked by.
With Buffy’s Slayer enhanced hearing, she heard the young man ask, “Who is that girl?”
