Buffy:

Buffy was patrolling in the Sunny dale cemetery. To think it had been a good seven years since she had first become a slayer. She had been a bit timid back then. Now, though, she was the most powerful slayer in history. She had been a teenager staking her first vampire. Now she was a woman. Confident, powerful, loved, and with a mission. They had found potentials all over the world, and they were now working with the council, with Giles as the new head, training them. Even if they didn’t have complete super strength, they were still endowed with special abilities. Sometimes, it was hard to keep it all up, but Spike was always there to catch her, as were the rest of her friends. Another vampire was rising. Back to work, she thought, then home for her sister’s birthday, who was also becoming a woman.

Dawn:

Dawn was turning seventeen. It was very big. Faith and Willow had gone to pick up the AI team. She couldn’t believe she was finally going to be appreciated as an adult. Seventeen was when Scooby’s were fully grown. It was kind of tradition. After this, she would pretty much be her own boss. She would be able to go on her first patrol alone, or with someone other than Buffy who would just watch. As she made sure her new red satin dress was fine, she walked down the stairs, where her de-facto father awaited, to take her to the place of the big party, and to give her over to her almost mate, Connor. She had been waiting so long.

Spike:

He was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for his nibblet. He didn’t really care if she would now be considered grown up, he would always call her that. It wasn’t his idea to do this, but all the bloody Scooby’s thought it was a right given to any member, or something like that. It was bloody ridiculous. But Buffy had made him. He would have thought she would be on his side, but the bloody slayer had said Seventeen was when she had grown up, and it was the same for all of them. So he would be forced to hand her over to peaches’ whelp, and watch them go all googly eyed at each other. It was sick. But then he thought, how did he find himself here? A Scooby? Allied with peaches. So much had happened since he had come to Sunny dale. It all seemed to turn out for the best. He sighed an unneeded breath, thinking of his family, though he’d never actually admit it. The scoobies were his kin now, and he’d fight with them to the death. Sodding powers. As he sensed her, he looked up. Bloody hell, she was a woman, he thought, and quite a beautiful one. He couldn’t let her go! All those boys…but he had to, no matter how much of a father he was. He smiled up at her, though. He was proud. She was his, but she would become another’s later tonight. How he dreaded it. Ah well, she was growing up, he’d just have to bother Xander meanwhile. And the watchers. They were easy to wind. He took his ‘bit by the arm, and they left to the bronze.

Angel:

Angel looked around. They were at the bronze. So many memories followed him here. Connor was next to him, and Angel’s arm was firmly secured around Cordelia’s waist. They were here to celebrate Dawn’s birthday. They had secured an area, where it would be just them. Everyone else was left out, some stared, some just danced, sending odd glances. Buffy walked in, and more memories came crashing. Their time was over, he knew that. But first love never forgot. She gave him a smile, then hugged Cordelia. Cordy and her settled their differences. Besides, they were all here to celebrate one person, Dawn. His son’s love, and his first love’s sister, and sort of daughter. If him and Buffy couldn’t be together, it seemed right their sort of children could be. Not children, though, heirs. Their legacy, and grown-up kids.

Connor:

Spike came through the door, with Dawn in his arm. She looked beautiful, and as he caught her scent, he went wild, and had to control himself to no just jump on her and claim her in front of everyone. The red dress that reached up to he knees gleamed, the shine of the satin matching the shine of her curly-waved hair. She looked at him with love, and he broke. He thanked the powers the day they sent Dawn to him. He controlled himself, and walked up to them. Spike eyed him with respect, and Connor looked straight back. It was a right for the Father to hand off his daughter under new care. It was quite a thing if William the bloody actually approved of someone to take care of his only childe better than him. After a moment, he handed her over, and nodded his head in a subtle salute, then made his way over to his love, Buffy.

Dawn:

Dawn looked around at all the smiling faces, and grinned. It was nice to just be here, with people who loved you. She was only related to one of them really, but they were her family. She walked down the stairs, and some people in the club just stared at her, as she made her way over to the secluded group. Connor stepped forward, offering his hand. Spike seemed to eye him with respect for a moment before handing Dawn over. He pulled her in, an arm around her waist, and kissed her passionately, before pulling away, and whispering she looked beautiful. She smiled in reply, and then, with his arm still unmoving from her waist, she went to greet everyone. Willow, Buffy, and Cordelia had tears in their eyes. Angel seemed on the verge too. Wesley congratulated her, and Fred gave both of them a sloppy southern style kiss. Faith and Anya just gave their own strange responses, and Xander shook Conner’s hand, and kissed Dawn’s cheek. The only thing Spike said when they had come his and Buffy’s way was “Keep her safe.” Then Buffy moved from his arms and took Dawn away from Connor a little while as the girls went to Talk. Later that night, Connor asked Dawn to dance, and they moved slowly on the dance floor. Some people still stared, but they were lost in their own world. Then Dawn looked around, and thought, this is how it should be. Wesley and Fred were talking happily to Willow, every few seconds Wesley and Fred sharing a secretive smile. Buffy and Spike were watching Dawn on a couch, happily. They were content, just to be in each other’s arms.

Angel and Cordelia did the same, although they took little chances to murmur in each other’s ear every so often, then looking into each other’s eyes. Giles joining the conversation with Wesley, Fred, and Willow, and yet seemed the proud papa of them all in a way. Faith was dancing her heart out, as usual, and Anya, and Xander were just sharing a drink, and talking quietly, Anya’s stomach a bit round from the recent pregnancy. Everyone else was ignored. Then there was Connor. His blue eyes pierced her, and every time she looked at them, her breath caught as she saw them looking right back. There was love in there, undying and true. They mirrored her own, and she felt safe in his arms. She leaned in for a kiss, and sighed happily. She was content.
