Word has just reached this office of an attack on the Royal Family of the Star Kingdom. While on an official state visit to the Protectorate of Grayson, terrorists launched missiles at both the transports of the Protector of Grayson and the Queen of Manticore.
The star yachts Queen Adrianne and Grayson One were en route to the Grayson Blackbird Drive Yards to allow Queen Elizabeth to view the efforts the Grayson people are making in contribution to the Manticoran Alliance. A transport used by undercover Masadan terrorists fired two stealth missiles at the yachts, intent on decapitating the leadership of both star nations. The attempt would have been successful if not for the actions of two courageous individuals: Duchess and Admiral of the Red, Dame Honor Harrington and her son, Earl Lieutenant (GSN) Alexander Harrington.
Both individuals were piloting their runabouts in formation with the Royal yachts and their LAC escorts. Duchess Harrington blocked the missile locked onto Grayson One, which was carrying both the Protector of Grayson and the Queen of Manticore aboard. Earl Harrington blocked the missile attacking the yacht Queen Adrianne, which was carrying several high members of both governments.
Duchess Harrington is reported to be in good conditions with no reported injuries due to her actions. Earl Harrington's condition has yet to be released, but eyewitnesses have reported that the runabout Janna Kalderash was severely damaged, and the transport Serenity, another ship in the formation, belonging to Earl Harrington, brought the runabout aboard and subsequently rushed back to Grayson. Inquiries with the Harrington Medical Center on Grayson have, at the time of this broadcast, have not been answered. It was suggested that the prospective brides of Earl Harrington, as allowed by the Church of Humanity Unchained, were aboard the yacht as well.
We will continue to bring you updates as information becomes available.
End Act 1
Yes, there is more to come, but I wanted to close this part out. The Ball is being difficult to write, but it is coming along. I do have lots of other plot bunnies screaming at me to be written, which makes writing the Ball, of all scenes, that much harder to write.
In particular, I want to thank the following individuals for their help and support:
Yorath the Wolf
You guys made writing this and others much easier and more fun.
There will be more, and yes I have a plan.
Thanks for reading.
