“Can you tell me about what happened to Earth?” Willow asked as Kaylee snuggled back next to her.

“Earth? You mean Earth-That-Was?” Kaylee was confused as to why Willow wanted to know about it.

“Yeah, what happened to it?”

Kaylee explained what she could about the resources being used up and how the world’s governments decided to terraform other planets.

“Then came the Battle of Serenity, where Mal and Zoe fought. The Alliance versus the Independents, the Browncoats.”

“So what happened next?” Willow asked intrigued.

“The Independents lost, the Alliance took control of most planets but Mal… Mal isn’t one to obey the law, so he got this ship and a crew. We’re family now. Not in name, but in spirit.”

“Must be nice…” Willow replied sleepily.

“Do you think you can sleep now?” Kaylee asked. “No more nightmares?”

She looked down at the red haired girl and noticed she was already asleep. Kissing her forehead, Kaylee curled up around her.
