They woke up late, after spending most of the night talking. During their slumber, they had arrived at another new world. Kaylee cheered up when she realised where they were.
Dusk had fallen over Haven. As they walked down the ramp to the settlement, children ran towards Kaylee.
“Where are we?” Willow asked nervously.
“Haven,” Kaylee replied happily. “Shepherd Book spends a lot of time here. So that means we can come and go as we like. We know most of the people who live here.”
They headed towards a cliff where they could over look the sunset. Behind them a bonfire was being built. Willow was amazed by the orange haze that covered the land.
“It’s beautiful Kaylee,” she said honestly. “So peaceful. I can see why you enjoy coming here.”
Kaylee smiled at Willow’s answer. She had hoped that Willow would enjoy her refuge as much as she did. Dusk at Haven was special to Kaylee and it seemed it was also special to Willow.
