Death. For as long as she could remember, she was surrounded by some form of death. It never made it easier to deal with and now, Tara was dead. She hadn’t known. She hadn’t attempted to get back home after the first week. She was caught up in Kaylee and she didn’t know her actual girlfriend Tara was dying.

“What happened?” she asked.

“Vampire attack. We had been searching everywhere for you,” Dawn explained. “We got word that someone had seen you, so Tara rushed off without waiting for Buffy. It was an ambush set for Buffy but it was Tara who went. She didn’t stand a chance.”

She felt Kaylee’s hand on her shoulder, wanting to comfort her but she was stunned. Tara was gone all because of her. Tara’s death was because she never attempted to go home.
