When Willow joined the rest of the crew for the first time after her mourning, she was a shadow of her former self. She had been locked in her emotional battle for several days before River had gotten her out of it. She had turned away all food that had been brought to her so she had lost a lot of weight.

“You feelin’ better?” Mal asked.

“A bit.”

He nodded and let her be with the answer. She sat at the table and picked at the plate of food Simon had placed in front of her. After not eating for a while, she was not feeling up to eating something big.

She noticed Kaylee had looked shocked but she hadn’t spoken to her yet. Not sure if she should comment, she quickly finished a little more to keep Simon happy and left the room. It wasn’t time to face her.
