“What’s a Slayer?”

“A myth, a legend… a single girl with the ability to stand against the forces of darkness.”

“And you knew her?”

“After Jesse died, Buffy was my new best friend. Xander had a crush on her, most guys did,” Willow smirked. “She had attitude but was a tiny blonde. She didn’t want to be a Slayer but she accepted her fate because of Jesse.”

“You miss her?” Kaylee pried.

“Yeah, I miss her… I miss her, Dawn, Xander, Giles…” Willow listed them, her voice breaking on the final name. “Tara.”

She wiped her eyes and smiled at Kaylee.

“At least this time though, I know I can’t change the fact that she’s gone.”

Kaylee just looked at her. What had she meant by that? So far tonight, she had learnt more about her new love than what she had previously know, and the details were strange and hard to comprehend.
