Summary: Prompt #95 for the tth100_2 community. Follows directly after Haunted House Hunting and Unpleasant tasks.

Buffy stood outside and looked with pride at the changes made to her new home. The Shrieking Shack had been completely overhauled, the massive amount of changes taking place in just a week thanks to the help of her new friends.

Initially, they were just going to repair what was needed then add on to it. However, time and neglect had done its best to destroy the house and it had been decided that it would actually be easier to tear down the Shrieking Shack and build a new house in its place.

She was proud of the work they had done. Now she had a home, a place where she and Dawn along with Faith could settle down. It would be a nice change to stay in one place for longer than a week or a month. And it was all due to the hard work of her friends. The Weasleys, Remus, Hagrid, Willow, Xander, Faith, Dawn, and Andrew had been the biggest help, putting in the longest hours of work. Filius, Minerva, Kingsley, and Albus had also come to help when their schedules permitted it.

Tonks had tried to help as well but had finally accepted that it might be safer for her and everyone else if she left the building to the others. Instead, Tonks had worked with Molly, Andrew, and Fleur at whipping the gardens into shape and helping to move everything in when the house building was finally complete.

The new house was made up of three floors now, not counting the basement. The ground floor had the usual rooms, living room, dining room, and kitchen but there was also a very large room given over for a library. The second floor had been split up into suites of rooms for Dawn, Faith, Andrew, and herself, and the third floor was devoted to guest rooms. The entire basement had been given over to be a training area for Buffy, Faith, and the new Slayers. The exterior now boasted a wrap around porch and the upper floors let out into balconies. Since none of them could agree on a color the house had been painted white with black shutters as a compromise.

The gardens had been completely redone and Fleur had charmed the ivy and climbing roses to trail up and around the porch rails and columns. Molly had wanted to include more than flowers in the gardens but neither Faith nor Buffy were all that skilled at potion making. Dawn had shown a raw talent for it and Severus had consented to tutor her privately, but Dawn didn’t really have time to cultivate the items in a garden devoted to potions making. So Molly had had to be content with flowers, vegetables, and herbs. As a result she had gone a bit overboard.

Buffy was awed if a bit worried. She wasn’t exactly known for having a green thumb and she predicted uncomfortable moments between her and Molly in the future where she tried to explain just how the garden had died. She resolved to spend more time with Pomona learning how to take care of the plants. The flowers were gorgeous and filled Buffy with a sense of peace and contentment every time she looked at them. Her mom had always wanted to be more of a gardener but never had the time. It made Buffy feel just a little connection with her Mom when she was outside among the flowers.

The vegetables and herbs had been included for Andrew. She wasn’t sure how it had happened but somehow Andrew had been invited to move in with them. Which was a good thing even if he could sometimes be annoying. He was a fantastic cook and had chattered excitedly about what he would cook for days since he had helped to get the garden ready.

Buffy sighed in content. The house was gorgeous and she was proud that she had made her mark on it. Helping to build it herself had made it more her own in a way than just buying the Shrieking Shack hadn’t. Ever since the day they had defeated the First and the Potentials all around the world had become activated as Slayers, Buffy had used the time to not only rebuild the council and train Slayers, but also to explore. Explore what she could be, to take up all the opportunities that had passed her by since she had become the Chosen one. She felt she had done more living in the time after the Chosen Two became a Chosen army than she had in all the years before.

But now all her traveling was done and Buffy was ready to settle down in one spot again. Now, she was home.
