Buffy Summers hated Jack O’Neill and Jacob Carter was running a close second on the, albeit short, list. ‘Maybe I’ll have to revise that,’ the Slayer thought, ‘after all Jacob did introduce us.’

Since she’d been introduced to SG-1 Jack had been in what Buffy liked to call “snark mode.” First, she’d been too short to be called “Slayer.” Then he’d wondered loudly what a tiny thing like her could possibly do against the Gou’ald. ‘Yep, I hate him,’ she thought. ‘He’s acting like a little boy with a crush,’ at that thought she quickly shook her head. ‘Nah! Not possible.’

After Jack’s last comment Buffy had calmly turned to Jacob. “If you don’t shut him up I’m going to gag him. We have business to conduct and I didn’t come here to listen to him,” Buffy said as she jerked her thumb in Jack’s direction, “talk about my height.”

For Jack’s part he didn’t know exactly what had possessed his mouth. ‘I’m usually not this annoying, am I?’ he silently questioned. ‘Yep, I am. But what is it about this woman that’s set me off.' Jack carefully studied the woman who’d been introduced to him as simply “The Slayer.” He’d almost heard the capital letters in Jacob’s introduction. It didn’t escape Jack’s notice that Jacob was a little afraid of the girl. Hell, Jack had been scared too at the look in her eyes. ‘Shit, that was it! He, Colonel Jack O’Neill, was scared of this woman.’ Jack let that thought roll over him. ‘Double shit! He wasn’t scared of her in the she might kill me sense, though there was that. Nope, he was scared in the she’s one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen way and I want her.’

While Jack was lost in his own thoughts, and in Buffy’s opinion being blissfully silent, she was able to question Jacob on what he wanted from her. “So Jacob, why the big powwow?”

Jacob cautiously looked around the bar. While he didn’t notice anyone going out of their way to listen in he thought it advisable for them to find a more private location for their discussion. “Slayer, is your ship nearby. I think a little privacy is in order for this conversation.”

Buffy nodded briskly and stood. “No problem. It’s in a clearing about a mile from here.”

Jacob and SG-1 stood and he said, “Then lead the way.”

Buffy turned and walked out of the bar. Jack followed watching the gentle sway of her ass in her leather pants as she walked and groaned softly to himself.

“Sir, is something wrong?” Carter asked with a mischievous glint in her eye.

“No, Carter nothing’s wrong,” Jack said tersely.

At this Teal’c raised his eyebrow, “Are you sure O’Neill? It sounds as if you are in pain.”

Daniel and Carter shared a knowing look and Daniel responded, “He’s in pain all right. Just not the kind you’re thinking of Teal’c.”

Teal’c merely raised his eyebrow and looked from the figure of Buffy back to Jack. “Indeed.”
