Of Andalites and Animorphs by Fyrloche

Of Andalites and Animorphs

A/N: I read the end of the last chapter and couldn’t resist. My daughter collected the entire set of Animorph books and she convinced me to read them. They were very good. Anyway, I don’t own any of the characters that are in this story.

“Elfangor?” Xander said in a strangled whisper.

Even though the creature before him didn’t have a mouth, Xander got the distinct impression of seeing it’s jaw drop. The surprise that it showed didn’t cause it to remove the blade from the dimension travelers neck. “Who are you? How do you know my brother?” The eyes narrowed as they peered at him. “Are you yeerks?”

To one side, Oz sat up shaking his head before taking in the scene before him. “Andalite. Cool.”

“Looks like a strange blue centaur to me.” Snape snarled as he searched his robes for one of his potions. While he may have relied on his wand for most of his magic, contrary to most wizards he would resort to other magical means. After all, he was a potions master and never went without a few special potions.

“I’ve never seen anything like him.” Lexington said in wonder and growing excitement. “Is he an alien?”

“He’s so cute!” squealed the two girls, Mihoshi and Kasumi.

“He is threatening our companion.” Boromir growled as he drew his sword. Tasha Yar nodded in agreement and drew her phaser.

Prue stood and shook her head to clear it. She watched the scene that was playing out in front of her and grimaced. “Oh, for crying out loud.” She raised her hand and the Andalite was suddenly levitated away from Xander, and, more importantly to Xander, the blade was removed from his throat.

Xander rubbed his throat and looked at the helpless alien hovering a few feet away from him. “Sorry, Ax. I should have realized it was you, and not your brother. But I always liked him in the books, even though he wasn’t there very long.”

“What are you babbling about, Yeerk?” the young Andalite asked in scorn. “Just kill me and be done with it.” Suddenly, Ax’s eyes widened in alarm. “Unless you mean to…” his voice trailed off as he suddenly whipped his tail-blade up to his own throat. “You’ll never have me as a host.”

“Whoa! No, Ax! Wait!” yelled Xander in desperation. Before he could move, Connor did. He grabbed the tail and pulled it and it’s lethal blade away from the throat of the young Andalite. “Please,” Xander pleaded with him, “we are not Yeerks.” He turned his head and looked at his companions. “Put him down, Prue. We need to show him that we mean no harm.” The Charmed One nodded and lowered her captive to the ground. “Boromir, put up your sword. He’s a young warrior in the middle of a war, behind enemy lines.”

Boromir relaxed slightly, understanding as only a fellow warrior could, but he didn’t put away his weapon. “Then I shall remain armed in case we are attacked from without.” Tasha nodded her agreement. Xander shrugged, knowing that this was about as much as he would be able to get from either of them.

“Ax, I’m going to tell Connor to let go of your tail.” He held up his hands in a peaceful gesture as he nodded to Connor to do just that. Ax quickly retreated a couple of steps with his tail-blade whipping around in front of him like an angry cat lashing it’s tail. “Look, we mean you no harm. We just got dropped here by an inter-dimensional doohickey to pick up our next companion in a quest to save the multiverse. Speaking of which, have you seen a glowing ball around here?”

Ax lifted an eyebrow. “As unlikely as what you say sounds, I will take you to my prince and let him decide if you are telling the truth or not. I will summon him.” He lifted his head and sent out a mental call to Tobias and relayed to him to bring the Animorphs together. Something very strange was going on.

“I don’t trust them.” Rachel voiced her opinion after the group had gotten together and listened to the story told by the travelers.

Jake almost smiled. Rachel not trusting them was as predictable as Marco telling a bad joke. “Their story is pretty far out there, but so is ours.”

Rachel crossed her arms with a scowl. “Maybe so, but they still haven’t explained how that Xander character knew who Elfangor was.”

“We’re about to get to that.” assured Jake. He turned to face the travelers to get some answers when a raptor’s scream cut the air.

“Hey!” called Tobias, coming in over the treetops. “I think I found that glowing ball they were looking for.” He let loose with a hawk’s call to get everyone’s attention. “I can’t land holding this thing so -Bomb’s away!”

Xander’s eyes widened in horror as he watched the glowing orb plummet towards the ground. “Catch it! Don’t let it hit the ground!” He surged forward and almost reached it before it hit the ground with a blinding flash.

Xander sat up with a groan. He didn’t have a knee, foot, elbow, or any other appendage in his groin but he did have a face full of feathers. As he moved the unconscious red-tailed hawk out of his line of sight, he was greeted with a loud growling noise. In front of him was a large dog. Behind the dog were two teen-agers, a Hispanic boy and a Caucasian girl. He held what looked like a car antennae, and she held what looked like a peeled wooden wand.

The Latin boy never took his eyes off them as he spoke to the girl out of the corner of his mouth. “Neets, are you sure you checked the spelling on that last spell?”

The girl, who apparently was named Neets, let her lips twist into a shape that signified her annoyance. “You know better than to ask me that, Kit. You checked out my spelling and I checked out yours! We didn’t misspell anything.” She blew out a breath in annoyance and took a closer look at the new arrivals who had interrupted them. Keeping her wand trained on them, she started barking out questions. “Alright, who the heck are you and where did you come from? Did the Power’s send you?”

Xander suddenly got very annoyed. “Oh, this is great! Just great! Here I am bouncing all over the place, and I end up in another universe that has people working for the Powers That Be! I can’t catch a break!”

As he finished his rant, Nita Callahan and Kit Rodriguez looked at each other in bemusement. It looked like they were about to start a new adventure.

A/N: I couldn’t decide what verse to cross with(I had a bunch of ideas) but my eldest daughter, who was the Animorphs collector, suggested the Young Wizards world created by Diane Duane because Nita became adept at dimensional magic. So, to anyone knowing what I’m talking about, have fun!
