Chap. 1- Sacrifice

“Be brave, Dawn, live; for me,”

The last words of the Slayer before turning and diving off the tower.

As her body slammed into the portal, she could hear the First Slayer. “Death is your gift,” she said and then continued “and you gave it, willingly, but you’re still needed,” she said.

A white light enveloped her and she was free.

SG-1 sat in the conference room for a debriefing with General Hammond.

Daniel was in the middle of his description of the ruins when the klaxans went off.

“Unscheduled off-world activation,” Sgt. Walter Davis’ voice said over the intercom.

“Sir?” Jack asked.

"We’ll finish at 1300. SG-1, I want you down there immediately,”

“Yes, sir,” Jack said as he stood. The others nodded and left.

Hammond walked into the control room.

“No, IDC, sir,” Sgt. Davis said.

“Close the iris,” Hammond ordered.

“It’s not responding sir,”

As SG-1 and the SF’s stood at ready, the familiar wall of blue formed in the gate. As it closed, a body dropped from the center of it.

“Teal’c?” Hammond and Jack asked simultaneously.

“It does not carry a symbiote,” Teal’c said in his halting manner.

Cautiously, SG-1 approached the still form.

The first thing they noticed was that it was a woman and that she was breathing- barely.

“Someone call Doc Fraiser down here immediately!” Jack ordered.

Sam carefully moved the blonde hair away from the woman’s face. Haunted green eyes looked back at her.

Taking into account Sam’s gun and uniform, the woman groaned. “Not the military again,” she said before lapsing into the freedom of unconsciousness.
