Summary: New vampires are created, now the Scooby Gang’s true power is unleashed…

Sunnydale High School

Buffy, Willow, and Xander were walking down the hall towards their lockers when they saw Principal Snyder at a table set up in the hallway. A sign taped to the table read: Halloween Safety Program.

Snyder reached out and grabbed a passing girl, pulling her towards the table.

"Hey!" she protested.

Snyder picked one of the clipboards off the table and pushed it at her, along with a pen. "You're volunteering."

"But I have to get to class!" she protested again.

Snyder just sneered. The group quietly walked behind Snyder, trying not to attract his notice.

Their lockers were uncomfortably close to the Volunteer Table.

Cordelia was at her locker, fairly close to them. She looked up for a moment, and then continued her task in her locker.

Willow began opening her locker.

She said, "Snyder must be in charge of the volunteer safety program for Halloween this year."

Xander smirked, "Note his interesting take on the volunteer concept."

Buffy asked, "What's the deal?"

Cordelia finished her tasks and headed their way in the crowded hallway.

Xander replied, "Oh, a bunch of little kids need people to take them trick-or-treating. Sign up and get your own pack of sugar-hyped little runts for the night."

Buffy shuddered. "Yikes. I'll stick to vampires."

There was a collision as Oz attempted to pass through without getting tapped for the "volunteer" program. Unfortunately Snyder crashed into him, making him stumble back.

Snyder turned around to see who had bumped into him. He took in Oz's currently purple hair, and noticed Buffy and her friends as well.

Snyder gloated, "Miss Summers. Just the juvenile delinquent I've been looking for."

Buffy gulped, and then squeaked, "Principal Snyder!"

Snyder snarled, "Halloween must be a big night for you. Tossing eggs, keying cars, bobbing for apples, one pathetic cry for help after another. Well, not this year, missy. And look, I have only five slots left and there are five of you. How convenient. Sign." He pushed a clipboard and pen at Buffy.

"But I can't…" came an unexpected chorus from the five students.

"My, what synchronization. And since the school board agreed that this year, groups of students should wear matching costumes. We are giving out notices saying what theme the students should wear. No excuses for not following the code or people will be expelled." Snyder's tone allowed no argument as he handed them an envelope.

Buffy gave up and signed the clipboard, then passed it along. Each of the five did the same unhappily as Willow reluctantly took the envelope.

Snyder took back the clipboard. "The program starts at four, the children have to be back by six. Now, get to class."

He stalked off back to the table and began collecting all the other clipboards and things.

Buffy groaned as they all walked away towards the lounge, unconsciously staying in the group.

Cordelia protested, "I can't believe this! I was going to the party at the Bronze on Halloween night, and I already had this great cat costume picked out at Party Town! I wanted that time to get ready."

"I'm in the band playing the party at the Bronze," Oz pointed out, "But that's not till later."

They had reached the lounge area.

Buffy realized they all had to get to class. "Can you meet us in the Library right after school? Then we’ll open the dreaded envelope and see what misery it unleashes." she said.

Cordelia and Oz nodded and went off their separate ways.

"This is so unfair! Halloween was supposed to be my night off!" Buffy protested.

Xander complained, "I can't believe this. We all have to wear matching costumes and stuff?"

Willow nodded, "Snyder said so."

Buffy complained, "Great. I was gonna stay in and veg. The one night a year things are supposed to be quiet for me."

Xander inquired, "Halloween quiet? Oh, I figured it'd be a big old vamp scare-a-palooza."

Buffy said, "Not according to Giles. He swears that tomorrow night is, like, dead for the undead. They stay in."

Xander smiled. "Those wacky vampires! That's why I love 'em! They just keep you guessing!"

With that, the group entered their classroom.

Sunnydale High School Library

Buffy, Willow, and Xander quickly made their way to the Library as soon as their last class had ended.

"Hey Giles,” Buffy said droned.

Willow and Xander flopped down at the table and slumped in their chairs.

"Hello Buffy. Willow, Xander," her Watcher greeted.

Noticing their expressions, he asked worryingly. “What’s wrong?”

"That runty troll Snyder roped us into this stupid Halloween Safety Program! We have to escort snotty-nosed sugar-hyped rug-rats and yard apes around on the one day you said I could be sure to have off," sulked Buffy.

Giles shook his head. "While I sympathize with you, I'm afraid I can do nothing to help for I am stuck in this as well.”

Xander smirked, “Wow, G-man’s joining the fun! How did you get suckered into it?”

Giles glared at Xander before replying, “Teacher’s Halloween dress party I’m afraid. No backing out of it.”

Buffy made a face, “I’ll stick to my group of candy-snacking rug-rags, thanks.”

Willow glanced up, “Who you going as Giles?”

Giles sighed, “I haven’t the faintest clue, I’ll have to find something to wear later.”

Buffy went over to the table and slumped into a seat.

"So, what are you doing, just sitting here?" Giles asked.

"We weren't the only ones Snyder grabbed. He assigned us, Cordelia and Oz to wear matching costumes because he caught us at the same time," answered Willow.

"I see," said Giles.

He turned his attention back to his pile of books and resumed his work.

Cordelia arrived within the next couple of minutes, followed almost immediately by Oz. They all copied the three already there and took seats at the table.

Xander smiled at his best bud. “Okay Wills, we’re ready as we’ll ever be.”

Willow timidly nodded and brought the envelope from her bag and before she could open it, Xander quickly snatched the letter from her.

“Xander!” She screeched in surprise.

Giving his best buddy his goofiest smile, he tore open the letter and glanced at a slip of paper that came out.

His eyes widened in horror. “Oh no, you gotta be kidding me!”

Willow looked over his shoulder and looked at the paper too before her mouth opened in shock.
Cordelia glared at them. “What? What is it already?!”

Buffy turned her to Xander and then to Willow before reaching out and grabbing the paper from Xander’s frozen fingers.

She gaped at the one worded letter that seemed to mock her before summing it all up. “Someone up there really hates us.”

Now Giles looked up annoyed by all this noise and said loudly. “Would you just say what’s on the paper Buffy!”

“Vampires!” Buffy spat out, angrily. “We gotta dress up as some vampire wannabes!”

Cordelia sighed, relieved. “Whew, you guys had me worried there…”

Receiving odd looks from the others, Cordelia glared at them. “It could have been worse and you know it!”

Oz spoke up. “Vampires huh?”

Buffy frowned and nodded. “Yeah, like I wanna dress up as a demon walking corpse.”

Xander’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Ooohh! Idea here!”

Willow blinked. “What’s that Xander?”

Cordelia rolled her eyes. “This will be good…”

Xander glared at her before replying. “Remember that game we used to play together when we were young Wills? Kindred?”

Giles had by then wandered over, finding it hard to concentrate with work, with this much noise going on. He frowned at the young boy. “What’s that Xander?”

Willow, who had understood Xander, spoke up smiling. “It’s an Role Playing Game on the computer, called RPG. Kindred, is based on White Wolf’s ‘Wolf of Darkness’ games. It’s based on Werewolves, Mages and many other creatures.”

Xander took over and told the others. “When we were younger, Willow had taught Jessie and I how to use a computer and afterwards introduced us to this game called-“

“Vampire: The Masquerade,” Said Giles, raising an eyebrow at the two gaping teens.

“G-Giles! You know the game?” Stuttered Willow.

Xander looked shocked. “Giles know a game?!”

Giles rolled his eyes while cleaning his glasses. “I was sadly introduced to the game and taught how to play it before moving here by a fellow eccentric college of mine, who worked at the British Museum along side me.”

He put his glasses back on and smiled. “It was an odd game with very interesting rules, clans and-“He waved his hand. “I’ll let Willow and Xander explain the rest.”

Buffy spoke up, annoyed. “Yeah, cause some of us are still confused here.”

Willow smiled, excited at discussing a game from her old days. “Remember the introduction we memorized when playing the Vampires?”

Xander grinned and said in a dark voice. “What are we? The Damned childer of Caine? The grotesque lords of humanity? The pitiful wretches of eternal hell? We are vampires, and that is enough. I am vampire, and that is far more than enough. I am that which must be feared, worshipped and adored. The world is mine - now and forever. No one holds command over me. No man. No god. No prince.
What is a claim of age for ones who are immortal? What is a claim of power for ones who defy death? Call your damnable hunt. We shall see whom I drag screaming to hell with me.”

Willow grinned back and took over. Saying in her creepy voice, she continued. “The First of Our Kind was Caine, born of Man. Who had slain his brother and was cast from humankind. Who was cursed with eternal life and with terrible lust for Blood. It is said that he wandered alone in sorrow for many years. In time, however, his loneliness consumed him and he made others like himself. His childer created childer,
and these childer created childer, until there existed 13 vampiric Clans. Each of these damned souls
bore the curse of Caine, but for every generation they were removed from the first one, their strength was lessened. Caine, the First of all Vampires.”

Buffy and Cordelia blinked a bit as they tried to process everything they said.

Oz slowly nodded. “Cool.” He smiled at Willow.

Willow blushed and said. “That’s only the start of it. We haven’t introduced the Camarilla Clans or of their Masquerade. Oh! And of the evil Sabbat and the Independent Clans.”

Buffy grabbed her head, moaning. “Okay, okay. I understand that these vampires are different from our vamp-“

“Kindred, Buffy. That’s what the vampires are called.” Put in Xander.

“Right,” Buffy rolled her eyes. “But can you explain it very, very simply without these great headache worthy speeches?”

Xander held up his hands in surrender, grinning. “Okay Buff, you got it. We’ll start with the Camarilla. These seven clans united to govern the rest of the other clans’ centuries ago when they were all hunted by well, hunters. They called themselves the Camarilla. The Camarilla existed first and foremost to enforce an edict -A Masquerade- by which to hide. They erased all evidence of Themselves from sight of the living and slowly -over many, many years- They became as myths to the minds of man. And thus concealed they have continued to grow in power And to guide Humanity to suit their whims.”

Cordelia glared at him. “Hey! Your saying one of you memorized speeches from the Internet again!”

Willow took over before a fight broke out. “The seven clans of the Camarilla. First Brujah: which is largely composed of rebels, both with and without causes. Individualistic, outspoken and turbulent, Brujah hold social change near to their undead hearts, and the clan's ranks contain some of the most violent of the Camarilla Kindred.”

Xander took over. “Gangrel: Of all vampires, the Gangrel are perhaps closest to their inner nature. These nomadic loners spurn the constraints of society, preferring the comfort of the wilderness. How they avoid the wrath of the werewolves is unknown; perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the Gangrel are themselves shapeshifters. When a mortal speaks of a vampire changing into a wolf or a bat, she is probably speaking of a Gangrel.”

Giles jumped in to help his two young children explain. “Nosferatu: Caine's childer are called "The Damned," and no vampires embody this more fully than the wretches of Clan Nosferatu. While other vampires still look human and may travel in mortal society, Nosferatu are twisted and deformed by the curse of vampirism. Other Kindred speak shudderingly of Caine placing a mark upon the entire clan for the monstrous deeds of its Antediluvian founder. As such, Nosferatu find themselves loathed and ostracized by the other Children of Caine, who consider them disgusting and interact with them only when they must.”

Willow smiled at Giles, “Thanks. This is my character from the RPG. She’s a vampiress from the clan Tremere. Whether dreaded, mistrusted, feared or reviled, the insular vampires of Clan Tremere are anything but ignored. Those who have heard of the clan's doings are typically suspicious of the Tremere, and with good reason - for the Warlocks are aptly named. Through their own artifice, they have mastered a form of vampiric sorcery, complete with rituals and spells, that is as potent - if not more so - than any other power of the Blood. Paired with the clan's rigid hierarchy and the smoldering ambition so common among Warlocks, this power is an unsettling thing indeed to those who know what the Tremere are capable of doing.”

Xander grinned. “This is my character, he is from the clan Malkavian! Even other Damned fear the Malkavians. The cursed blood of their clan has polluted their minds, with the result that every last Malkavian across the world is incurably insane. What's worse, a Malkavian's madness can take nearly any form, from overpowering homicidal tendencies too near-catatonia. In many cases, there's no way to tell a Malkavian apart from the "sane" members of other clans. Those few whose psychoses are immediately obvious are among the most terrifying vampires to stalk the streets.”

Willow went on. “Toreador: The Toreador are called many things - "degenerates," "artistes," "poseurs" and "hedonists" being but a few. But any such lumpen categorization does the clan a disservice. Depending on the individual and her mood, Toreador are alternately elegant and flamboyant, brilliant and ludicrous, visionary and dissipated. Perhaps the only truism that can be applied to the clan is its members' aesthetic zeal. Whatever a Toreador does, she does with passion. Whatever a Toreador is, she is with passion.”

Cordelia smiled. “That is the clan for me!”

“Then go already,” muttered Xander.

Willow talked slightly louder. “Ventrue: The Kindred of Clan Ventrue have a reputation for being honorable, genteel and of impeccable taste. From time out of mind, Ventrue has been the clan of leadership, enforcing the ancient traditions and seeking to shape the destiny of the Kindred. In nights of old, Ventrue were chosen from nobles, merchant princes or other wielders of power. In modern times the clan recruits from wealthy "old money" families, ruthless corporate climbers, and politicians. Whatever their origin, Ventrue vampires preserve stability and maintain order for the Camarilla. Other Kindred often mistake this for arrogance or avarice, but to the Ventrue, their shepherd's role is more burden than honor.”

Xander took over from an out of breath Willow. “The rest are just about the two clans of the Sabbat: Lasombra and Tzimisce, who wish to take humanity back to the cattle age. They stand in open rebellion against the Camarilla. Lasombra can use shadows like magic, making it attack people or making themselves disappear. Tzimisce are flesh-crafting Kindred and are very not well liked with the other clans. The four Independent Clans basically try and stay out of the Camarilla against the Sabbat wars.”

Silence remained for a while as everyone rested and thought over this information.

“So…”Buffy thought aloud. “Dressing up as these Kindred characters cool with everyone?”

Cordelia stood up, her head held high proudly. “I’m going as a vampiress from the clan Toreador!”

Oz nodded. “Gangrel.”

Xander smiled and put his arm over Willow’s shoulders. “Me and Wills will be going as your local Kindred witch and favored lunatic! Tremere and Malkaviah are us!”

Giles frowned, thoughtfully. “I suppose I could go as a vampire from the clan Ventrue…”

Buffy pouted. “Er guys? What about me?”

Willow turned to her. “What clan suits you best Buffy?”

She replied. “I don’t know, I thought Toreador but since Cordelia got there first…”

Xander grinned at her. “How about dressing us as one of the ass-kicking Brujah Kindred?”

Buffy shrugged. “Better than nothing.”

Willow beamed, “Alright. So why don’t we go to that new store in town, they're having a grand opening sale. That would probably be the best place to start, if we want to get it cheapest."

Buffy frowned, “How do we get there?”

Cordelia rolled her eyes. “I’ve got my car. I'm willing to give two of you a ride.”

Oz spoke up, “I’ve got room in my van.”

Buffy said. "Why don't we girls go in your car and the guys can follow in the van?"

Cordelia nodded. "Fine by me."

"Bye, Giles. See you later." Called Buffy as they all got up from the tables and headed out of the library.

Ethan's Costume Shop

An hour later, Buffy, Willow, Xander, Cordelia and Oz entered the shop.

As they crowded the entrance of the store, they turned to each other with questioning looks.

Buffy spoke up after a minute of silence. “Look, why don’t we split up and pick up bits we’ll use or add to our costumes, kay? We’ll meet up when we’re finished.”

Agreed, the group went off to look at the shelves, boxes, and toy bins and clothes for anything they needed.

Buffy walked along a clothes section, just gazing around until something caught her eye.

Buffy looked to the costume that caught her attention. It was a red and pink noblewoman's dress, with white ruffles along the sleeves and low V-neck collar.

She smiled. “Wow.”

Suddenly the apparent shopkeeper, a tall man with grayish black hair in his mid-forties appeared around the corner and noticed Buffy's interest in the costume.

"Please, let me," he said as he took the dress off the wire-frame mannequin holding it.

"Oh…I-it's, uh…" she can't seem to form a complete sentence as Ethan holds the costume up in front of her, looking at a mirror before them.

"Magnificent," he finished her sentence, "Yes, I know. There." He pauses as everyone takes in the image of
Buffy in the costume being reflected in the mirror. "My. Meet the hidden Princess. I think we've found a match, don't you?"

Buffy jumped, startled. "Oh! I, uh, I-I'm sorry but I can’t wear this. I’m supposed to be dressing as part of a group thing.”

He frowned, disappoint apparent in his features before his face went black. “Oh, I see.” He quickly put the costume back on its hanger before turning back to her.

He asks her, “What is it then your looking for?”

She smiles, feeling uneasy around him. “Do you have any different vampire styled clothes?”

He blinks before grinning almost devilishly. “We’ve got something like that in the back. Why don’t you bring your friends over and we’ll have a look.”

Buffy nods. “Okay.”

Later in Ethan's Costume Shop

As Ethan Rayne, Chaos wizard finished ringing up the Slayer and her friends’ purchases.

He gleefully couldn’t wait to see how the Vampire Slayer and her friends would react to being turned into real vampires. Ethan grinned smugly to himself, he couldn’t wait for tonight.

Buffy smiled as she took her bag of purchases. “Thanks.”

He smiled back, “No. Thank you.”

Halloween Night – Sunnydale’s Streets

After leaving the school, just as much for safety reasons as the way their costumes "worked together", they all went in pretty much the same direction, walking their kids along the same streets, and keeping within sight of one another.

As expected, the first thing that most of the kids asked when they saw the teenagers by themselves was
"What's your costume supposed to be?"

Xander had had tried to explain they were Vampires from a RPG game called Kindred but the kids soon got bored and he gave up as they dragged him away towards the houses.

As Buffy glanced in horror as her group showed her the toothbrushes they had gotten, she declared they try another house before heading back to the school.

Buffy passed Oz as they headed across the road with their own group. Xander and Willow’s group had gone ahead a little but they would probley be back soon, thought Buffy.

Ethan's Costume Shop

Inside his shop, Ethan knelt before a statue and began his ritual. He cut himself and let his wounds in his palms with blood flowing freely from them. He began.

He dabbed some of the blood from his left hand with his right middle finger and smeared it over his right eyelid.

"Chaos. I remain, as ever, they faithful, degenerate son."

He dabbed blood from his left hand with his right middle finger again and smeared a cross onto his forehead.

"Janus, evoco vestram animam. Exaudi meam causam. Carpe noctem pro consilio vestro. Veni, appare et nobis monstra quod est infinita potestas."

(Janus, I invoke your spirit. Hear my plea. Seize the night for your own reason. Come, appear and show to us that which is infinite power.)

"Persona se corpum et sanguium commutandum est. Vestra sancta praesentia concrescet viscera. Janus! Sume noctem!"

(The mask transforms itself into flesh and blood. Your holy presence curdles the heart. Janus! Take the night!)

He grinned as ritual finished. "Showtime!"

Halloween Night – Sunnydale’s Streets

Children quickly became their costumes and ran amuck in havoc in Sunnydale with glee. Destroying cars, wrecking homes, stealing from stores, chasing people – there was no empty street from this chaos happening.

Not far away, chaos magic turned haywire as it entered 6 individual people. While turning them into their costumes, it had changed their DNA and their very memory of life. Or rather their unlife…

Buffy Summers, 17-year-old Vampire Slayer and Demon Hunter woke up as Elizabeth, 34 year old Kindred warrior and veteran fighter of the Clan Brujah of Los Angeles.

Elizabeth cursed loudly as she grabbed her head in pain. “Damn, what mortal did I drink out of?”

Groaning, she quickly looked around her and resisted to curse again. “How the hell did I end up back in this hellhole?!”

Elizabeth remembered very well the last time she had been here. It was back in her mortal days in the year 2001, just after she been turned 21 when she had been embraced and had left with her friends, hoping never to return to Sunnydale.

But it had all really started when she was 15 years old, back in Los Angeles. When her parents had still been together. When a boy from school, Pike was it? Had dragged her over to catch sight of her first vampire and her first kill of one.

Since then, Pike and her had no choice but to fight them off as they attacked them for knowing about their existence. Then one night, she had to burn down her school to kill them off as they attacked the students. Later her parents had broken up, Pike was in hospital and she was alone and heading for some town called Sunnydale.

Her hope of a normal life was crushed when vampires continued to follow her to Sunnydale. Feeding and killing innocents to lure her out to meet them. Thankfully, she had meet Xander and Willow-her two best friends who stayed by her side through tick and thin. Then Oz and Cordelia, both joined their group as they fought back at the raging vampires through high school.

Training and fighting together, the group grew strong and continued to fight the undead. She and the gang survived High School and all managed to go to Sunnydale College. Meeting her boyfriend Riley Finn. Finding out he was a hunter, fighting the vampires as well. Riley Finn leaving after a horrible fight with her. 2 years later, her mother died of a result of complications from her surgery to remove a brain tumor. After learning to cope through life without her mother, she had to drop out of College and looked for a job.

Soon after an English Vampire named Rupert Giles appeared. Though he looked 29, they were not surprised to learn that he actually 55 years old. He had spent 26 years of his unlife, helping the Camarilla and fighting the Sabbat vampires. He calmly explained to them the reality of the vampire world. The world of the Masquerade: to protect humans and of the great clans. Also of the Kindred wars.

He then offered to have them embraced into Kindred. At first they revolted against it but he went on saying if they joined the Camarilla, they would all gain the strengths of their clans and the Camarilla’s resources. They didn’t want to be hunted by all the vampire clans through their mortal lives, did they?

Seeing truth through this, she asked for time to think this through which he graciously gave and disappeared. The gang came together and talked through the night, agreeing finally at sunrise. By that time, Giles had came back. He had brought 5 master Kindred with him from the other clans.

She had stood in her old house and told Giles they had agreed to his request. They couldn’t live normal lives any more; it was becoming frustrating to them. Giles had happily excepted this and introduced the 5 powerful vampires to them. The five would be the ones to embrace them, give them strength and teach them of their clan and ways.

After that night, they all left Sunnydale to Los Angeles. Living together in the same city, they always made time for each other and ignored each other’s clans dislikes of each other. Giles had even joined their group, becoming their mentor. They still-hunted and fought the Sabbat but now they were on even grounds against each other.

But that was 13 years ago, 13 years she had already spent as a vampire in Los Angeles. Now she was home and her Kindred Brujah’s urges was to kill something very slowly…

Alexander Harris, known as Xander to his friends, screamed while holding his head with his hands. His eyes flashed golden once before he blinked and looked around him in a slow, almost sluggish manner.

He giggled, showing two long white fangs for a second before he dived into the darkness of the shadows. Running through the night, struggling not to stop and gaze lovingly at the beautiful moon.

He grinned to himself; the Malkavian clan may not be sane but they were always known to have hidden wisdom…

Willow Rosenburgh of the Tremere Clan of Los Angeles growled with frustration.

Some idiot warlocks had properly sent her to Sunnydale through magic. Either as a joke or a way to get rid of her, she would find out later and make them pay.

She turned her head and she sensed her friends close by. Keeping her eyes on the roaring monsters around her, she moved easily through them. She hoped her Kindred friends were all right…

Rupert Giles was very upset. No, he was very pissed off actually. Some how he woken inside a school, surrounded by animals, monsters and hell knows what else.

As he stormed out the school, he quickly noticed he was back in Sunnydale. He then wondered if his young charges were sent here as well. Giles then dashed down the street like any worried Ventrue sire to his childe’s aide. Briefly wondering what was going on as he passed demon children on the road.

Author Note: There! I've started this ages ago but never had the time or inspiration to finish it. I hope that someone who likes this continues it.
