"The Silver Tongued Devil"

Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Smokey and the Bandit, nor do I make money off 'em. I am sad.

Dawn looked considerably the worse for wear as she charged into the central station of the new Council HQ. Buffy looked up from the papers she was reading and immediately moved towards the bruised girl. "Dawn?"

"Vampire gang in the rest area just down the highway. On the bright side, my new self defense spell works... but they got away."

Buffy nodded and smiled. "That's alright, we'll get 'em." She turned and headed into an adjacent room.

"What's in here?" Dawn asked, only to be answered by Andrew's voice.

"Only the heart of my entire new informant network!" He declared, slightly backpedaling at Buffy's glare. "Ours, I mean... our entire new informant network."

"We got a vamp gang somewhere along route 35, Andrew. I wanna know where."

Andrew nodded vigorously and grabbed a microphone from the table. "Breaker one-three, breaker one-three, this is the Flying Demon Monkey looking for a Dust Report on the lower 35, come back!"

Dawn turned incredulous eyes to her sister. "That's our information network?"

Buffy shrugged. "It works better than you'd think. You wouldn't believe how many non-violent demons go into trucking."

Just then a voice came back over the radio. "Well, howdy good buddy, this here's the Silver Tongued Devil. I think I just passed a pack o' dustbags pullin' inta that choke 'n puke out Littlefield way, come back."

"Ten Four that, Devil my man, The Boss Lady thanks you for your cooperation."

"My Pleasure, Monkeyboy, ya'll keep the wheels spinnin' and the beavers grinnin', I'm out."

Dawn turned her baffled expression back to her sister while Buffy turned and marched out the door towards the weapons. "You heard the demon, Dawnie, vamps at the Littlefield truckstop, let's go."
