A/N:Disclaimer in first chapter
She felt the magic before she entered the house; Willow made her way through the police tape, and pass the uniformed officers to the entrance of the house. She hesitated slightly only because of the spell blocking her entrance, but the person who did the casting was nowhere near as strong as she was. Once inside Willow was pointed to the basement, ignoring the stares from the different officers and detectives used to her usual professional attire. She walked down the wide stairs into the beautifully finished basement, Willow thought for a second, ‘maybe I should remodel my basement’ before shaking it off, another year and she was leaving, and that left no time for her to get comfortable with anything.
“Rosenberg, I never knew!” Detective Gray remarked, looking at her from the bottom of the stairs.
“My night off, I can’t always dress in black slacks and turtlenecks can I?” Willow stopped at the last stair, looking down at the two bodies on the ground; they were perched in front of the couch eyes still open, looking at nothing. However, it was not the way they looked, the symbols on their bare chests, or the fact that she knew them. It was the feeling of dark magic that had her stop, the feeling that there was something wrong with them, something she could not put her finger on quite yet. “Did you photograph the bodies?”
Gray nodded, “CSI did all that before I arrived.”
“Can someone wash those symbols off of them; it’s the reason why the other girl couldn’t walk down here. It’s a spell to keep us magic folk away, it’s so we don’t find out what really happened here.”
Gray motioned in the air, “What did happen here?”
Willow walked over to the bodies, “I don’t know yet, but I can feel there is something missing.” She crouched down by the first male, “They are both missing something, something different…” She trailed off and closed her eyes.
“Victim number one, Kelly Anderson, works as a bouncer at Total eclipse Nightclub, no arrests, no record, the only thing we can come up with on him is that he was a suspected werewolf. Same with victim two-“
“Archie Anderson, victim number ones brother. I know them from the club, we have a lot of calls from there remember?” Willow touched Kelly’s arm and gasped, “They took part of their souls, and whoever did this ripped their soul apart.” She blinked back tears and stood up.
Gray looked her in the eyes, confused, “Why would someone do that to them?”
“They killed them for their wolf, it’s like they absorbed the power from the animal. I don’t know why someone would do that but it’s the darkest kind of magic I know, stealing souls is one thing Randall but to rip it apart… even I don’t know how to do that.”
Suddenly one of the officers from upstairs called, “Officer Rosenberg there is a man outside asking for you.”
Gray smiled, “You brought a date?”
Willow glared at him and started up the stairs, “This is my night off, I'm done for right now, and we’ll figure something out tomorrow.” Willow walked back to the entrance where Richard was standing looking impatient, “What?” she asked walking up to him.
Richard leaned down and whispered, “Something is pulling me inside the house.”
“Come on before you run in there, we’ve gotta get out of here.” Willow grabbed his hand and headed to her car ignoring the ‘hoots’ coming from Gray and other officers.
