“So, let me get this straight, Xena, or whatever your name is.”
“Actually… It’s Xander. As in Alexander.” Xander said, as he fidgeted uncomfortably under the glare of the sarcastic doctor.
“Whatever Susan. Now, I’m going to use really small words, just in case you’re as stupid as the eye patch makes you look. You see, I’m not sure just what it was that happened, but those of us that actually went to medical school know that there’s no way a ‘gang on PCP’” Dr Cox said, mimicking the commas the phrase obviously had, “could have done that. Not unless the PCP came free with a pair of really pointy teeth, and Nancy, that kind of thing just doesn’t happen!”
Xander threw the doctor a shocked look and then smiled.
“Sarcasm. Nice. Dress you up on a mini skirt and you could compete with Queen C. Okay, so, maybe it wasn’t PCP, but what’s really important is if Faith’s going to be okay. Is she?”
“See my white coat? That means I’m a doctor. Now, would a doctor be wasting time talking to you if he was needed somewhere else?”
Xander shrugged. “Guess not.”
“And, surprisingly, you’re right. So, how about telling me the real story so I can make sure Faith doesn’t get something nasty from whatever it was that bit her.”
Xander thought for a second before answering. “I’ll tell you over a beer.”
“All right, but I’m warning you now, I don’t kiss on the first date.”
