Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created by Joss Whedon and Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Chapter 22:
Sunnydale Public Library.....

“Son of a bitch.” Xander muttered as he scrolled though the newspaper archives at the public library. There was so much of history that he'd missed. Hell, Earth had just survived an invasion of some aliens from some place called Thanagar. Hawkpeople. Creepy.

Of course, backtracking that let him know about the last invasion that happened shortly before Buffy showed up. The one with the aliens from Mars. Again with the strange since this was all new to him.

He almost felt like he was Amish. He was completely ignorant of the outside world. A strange world that was possibly even crazier than life on the Hellmouth. Things might actually be safer with the town warded like it was. Still, it was damn confusing.

He jotted a few more notes on his notepad. He'd been making lists. Lists of villains, lists of heroes and lists of those between the two. It was strange how many took up costumes to help. He could only find references to a few who didn't use a secret identity. The most notable being a detective that was nicknamed the 'Elongated Man'. It was..... strange. Superheroes. Straight out of the comics.

Xander tapped the eraser side of his pencil on the table as he scrolled through dozens of rolls of microfiche. He had so much more to go through. So much to learn.
Rory's garage.....

“Son of a bitch.” Rory Harris muttered as Faith explained the spell surrounding the town. “No wonder the newspapers and newscasts seem a little on the thin side.”

“I know right?” Faith grinned. “Still.... it has possibilities. My old Watcher used to warn me to stay out of those circles because of the need for secrecy.... but I think it was just the Watchers covering their own asses. Keep their asset theirs.”

“You'd probably be right.” Rory told her. “My nephew's Kryptonian.” He said in half shock. “He is going to kick so much demon ass. He could really take down the Scourge. Once my network finds where they are.”

“You know...I could be a superhero.” Faith grinned. “Get a costume. Maybe black leather.”

“Maybe something more practical.” Rory suggested.

“Right.” Faith grinned. “Me, practical.”

The two started chuckling at the thought.
Later that day....

“I'm home.” Xander called as he entered the apartment.

“We're here!” A voice called.

Xander wandered into the living room and grinned. “We're out of school three days and you guys are watching cartoons and eating junk food. Nice.”

“It's Yogi's Space Race.” Oz told him. “It's cool.”

“I remember this.” Xander said as he snagged a bag of cheese curls and a can of Pepsi from the kitchen. He sat down and watched. “Wow. So a really bad guy is also a really good guy.”

“Yeah. He's voiced by Frank Welker. He's the same guy who did Fred from 'Scooby Doo.'” Oz told him.

“Hmmm......” Xander said. “I need to go get my notebook. I've got an idea.”

“An idea for what?” Cordelia asked him.

“My superhero identity.” Xander told her. “It's gonna be sweet if I can manage it.”

“Manage what?” Cordelia asked him.

“You'll see once I get it drawn up.” Xander assured her. “It's gonna be fun to make the stuff.” He said as he headed to his room to draw things up. He was back less than three minutes later.

He passed the drawings around and everyone had similar grins.

“So what are you going to call them?” Oz asked him.

“I'm thinking White Knight and Nighthawk. You can tell who is who by the designs.” Xander grinned.

“Dude.... This is way bigger than Sunnydale.” Jonathan told him.

“I know. I'm going global.” Xander told him. “This is going to be awesome.”

“We still on for the road trip?” Oz asked him.

“Of course.” Xander agreed. “There is so much I haven't seen. Coast City, Star City, Gotham, Metropolis, Dakota.... The list goes on.”

“I'm going to need a bigger van.” Oz muttered.

“Or a camper.” Xander agreed. “Still... maybe four of us to the van. The rest could house sit.”

“I wouldn't mind sticking around.” Jonathan said. “This place is way better than home.”

Amy shrugged. “Better here than the rat cage.”

“Thanks guys.” Oz said. “Just be sure to keep the places relatively clean.”

“I don't think that will be a problem.” Buffy said as she munched on her chips.

“Use a napkin.” Xander scowled. “This is good furniture.”

“Did you Scotch Guard?” Buffy asked him.

“Well yes, but that's beside the point Miss Greasy Hands!” Xander told her.

Buffy rolled her eyes and stuck a hand back into her chip bag.

Xander sighed. “Let's just watch some cartoons. We can worry about the whole road trip thing later.”

“What about your cover cover identity?” Oz asked him.

“What do you mean?” Xander asked.

“I can see the two you drew, but what about a third? Just a guy with powers?” Oz asked him.

“What are you thinking?” Xander asked.

“What can you tell me about the Big Bang?” Oz asked with a grin.

Xander nodded. “I see where you're going with that.” He grinned. “That will take some more research though.”

“That you can do on your own.” Oz told him. “I'm still adjusting to being a meta-human instead of a werewolf.”

“Meta-human.” Cordelia said. “Sounds better than some things they're called.”

“That they are.” Xander agreed. “Still.... I have a feeling life is going to get interesting for all of us.”

“X, can you design me a costume?” Faith asked him.

“Sure. Maybe a few. I think I can rig up some metalwork that can keep costumes in them.” Xander said as he jotted a few notes down. “I'm going to have to hit the scrapyard for some more metal to play with. The glyph work is going to have to be damn near microscopic.”

“You can do it though right?” Oz asked him.

“Probably.” Xander shrugged. “We'll just have to see. Say, who's up for a steak dinner? My treat?"

Everybody raised their hands.

"Perfect." Xander grinned. "This is going to be an awesome summer. I can feel it."
