“Death is your gift.”

When Buffy first heard those words, she was horrified and a little (a lot) taken a back. Death? Her gift? WHAT?

But she did her duty time and time again – death always being her gift. But when the First Slayer told her this, she hadn’t meant that Buffy needed to sacrifice herself over and over again… Well, actually she did, but she also meant something else. And for several years that bothered Buffy… How come death had to be HER gift – why couldn’t it be a nice pair of shoes or something?

And then she went to Italy (which, she thought would be a total bore, but thank God she went) and went ‘on holiday’ as Giles liked to call it.

And then she met him. She had, honestly, thought him to be a vampire at first, what with him brooding and being wicked good with a blade.

But then he had said she was pretty and asked her out for a drink and things kind of went from there. Pretty soon she found herself in love with him and wanting to reveal her past to him. She was quite surprised when he reciprocated the favor and told her every single, gruesome detail of his past. And when he told her of being one of the four, she just looked up to the open sky and laughed.

“Death is your gift.”
