Review of chapter "The Last Night (Dawn/Kara Zor-El)" from (Current Donor)dogbertcarroll
Review:
Interesting.
Comments from author:
It's a first chapter similar to Road Trip... an idea I needed to get out of my head, but for which the rest of the story has yet to arrive.

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from WhiteWolf
Review:
Was that The Scythe? Because I think it would have cut Zod in two. Superman (and other Kryptonians) are vulnerable to magic.
Comments from author:
*pokes* Go read cwolf's review. I'm using his excuse. :)

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from cwolf
Review:
The problem with the scythe, is it was designed to kill specific things. It probably wasn't magical to Zod because he wasn't one of them.

as for the Hulk. Compared to Slayer speed, he's slow. Compared to Slayer strength, he's a cruise missile. As long as she dodges, she can at least annoy him until he gets bored and stomps off in a huff. (great, now I have a mental image of the hulk having a temper tantrum... and Buffy rubbing his shoulders while whispering sweet nothings in his ear. And no I'm not writing it)
Comments from author:
*points* Hey other reviewers, what he said!

I actually had a ficlette planned with Faith and Hulk wandering Boston, Faith riding on his shoulder while they sing Irish drinking songs at the top of their lungs...

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from Vld
Review:
Well, I would maybe have written some like that involving Kennedy, and I'm kind of a big Xander-basher (hey, there's need of one, most people seem to think only Buffy should be bashed) but at least you bash Buffy with style, so I won't criticize on it. And the Hulk... overding it much? :D
Comments from author:
I'm looking... I think it was Faith vs. The Hulk with Faith winning? Someone did Slayer vs. Hulk. And I'm like... dude. The Hulk would turn her into Alpo with a single punch.

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from (Moderator)Ava
Review:
I feel bad that I liked this so much and I have to agree that Buffy and the Scoobies tend to be shoved into a universe by authors and then ‘magically’ fix everything but the kitchen sink. And yeah, we know magics affect Big Blue and thus should have affected Zod, but the story wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable without Buffy's dumbfounded-ness. (yes, I'm aware dumbfounded-ness is not a real word)

I joyfully await your next installment of the jolly grey giant eating his fill. *bounces* Will he rip her in half like he did Logan? Thank you for sharing!
Ava
Comments from author:
Buffy's pretty scrawny. I bet he can get her down all in one piece...

Wise-i-pedia adds: Actually, dumbfoundedness is a perfectly serviceable word. It's not standard by any means, and it does possess a certain sesquipedalian, obfuscatory quality, but the grammar seems sound enough to me. I would take it to mean 'the quality of being dumbfounded.'

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from MistofRainbows
Review:
Ouchie poor Buffy, not that it wouldn't happen that way but if she used the Slayer's ax it is magic. It might actually hurt him. Being that Lana's alter ego proved that magic hurt Clark, I'd love to see a nice addition with Willow ripping Zod apart from under an invisibility cloak or something. Maybe I'm just twisted.
Comments from author:
*sighs* Fine, I'm gonna go finish up the chapter with the Hulk eating Buffy cuz at least people can't bitch about plots holes there.

Cannibalism. Yes.

Plot holes? No.

And here I thought Kryptonians were vulnerable to magic... especially magic weapons?
Comments from author:
Yeah. I just wanted Buffy to get spanked though.

Thankfully, there's nothing people can complain about when I write the chapter with the Hulk...

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from JoeB
Review:
One problem Joe, The Scythe is magical, Kryptonians invulnerability doesn't work against that. Zod would have been doing a real good Calab impression.
Comments from author:
Yes, but that'd take all the fun out of it.

Well, I'm pretty sure there's nothing to protect Buffy from being eaten by our favorite big grey cannibal in the next installment of this...

Review of chapter "Kneel Before Zod (Buffy/Zod)" from Sadfru
Review:
Gave me a giggle, is their a plot for this or did it just pop up in your scary little mind?
Comments from author:
Not really. There's a story on TtH that inspired this but I won't name names.

Basically, I'm tired of seeing the Scoobies in general (and Buffy in specific) being written as the be-all and end-all of heroes. We've never seen a consistent measurement (her powers were pretty much the ultimate deus ex machina), but I'm pretty sure even Whedon would max her out at one ton lifting and maybe a 100 mph top speed. Spider-Man can lift ten tons, for comparison. There are SO many more powerful beings in fiction on both sides of the fight and I'm just really tired of seeing Buffy and company overexaggerated like they are.

Coming up next: Buffy vs. the Incredible Hulk...

Review of chapter "The Last Night (Dawn/Kara Zor-El)" from Sadfru
Review:
looking to be a hell of a ride, at the end I imagined a confrontation with the goody-too-shoes of supgirls world when she gets some attitude, perhaps have them come after dawn and zor-el and find them...busy? in any case the possibilities are drool worthy :)
Comments from author:
I'm actually tinkering with a GreenLantern!Dawn/Supergirl/Power Girl ficlette...

Review of chapter "The Last Night (Dawn/Kara Zor-El)" from Infinix
Review:
I've always thought Dawn should have gotten more than being the prefered sacrifice to every crazy around for being the key. Any chance of a follow up to this. How Kara adjusts? How the world likes having a superhero and does Andrew have a heart attack? Oh and how does Superman and the Bat take the news?
Comments from author:
I'm working on ideas for a sequel...

Review of chapter "The Last Night (Dawn/Kara Zor-El)" from BeatriceOtter
Review:
Very interesting--there's lots of potential for the future there. I bet I'd like it even better if I knew more about the comics and therefore Kara's history, but you did a good job of writing the story so that even though I don't know any of that, I could see where she was coming from.

One minor nitpick: in your notes you said it was Dawn/Kara but a friendship. The common usage is that a / means a sexual or romantic relationship, whereas if you separate the two characters with a comma (e.g. Dawn, Kara) there is a friendship or other type of relationship going on.
Comments from author:
Loooong story short: Kara got loaded into her stasis pod as a 16-year old on Krypton. She was supposed to be right behind Kal-El (Clark) and help raise him. She got caught in a massive chunk of the planet (I'm not sure if the ship even lifted off) and then thirty years later, the chunk slammed into Gotham Bay. Batman lead the clean-up effort and found the pod underwater. Kara had already emerged and ran amok until he used kryptonite to take her down and bring her to the Batcave. She woke up and began spouting in Kryptonian, which Clark was conveniently on-hand to translate for Batman and the cousin revelation came out. At that point, she was brought to the Fortress of Solitude for monitoring and education while they tried to figure out what to do with her. That's the point where this picks up.

I tagged it cuz it's an FFA story. It was initially going to be a smut story but it's kinda hard to get in a sex mood when you're sitting on the toilet with bad buffalo wing problems while you're writing it. So I tacked on the (friendship/alliance) bit when I got to the end and realize there wasn't anything the least bit romantic.

Review:
Interesting, even if I'm not up on current DC Universe mythos. I would like to see where you can take this - whether it's a Dawn/ Kara pairing or friendship.

I'm also curious about the whole dimension-walking bit - I'm assuming from the month stay requirement that there is a story there (how did Dawn find that out?).

Review of chapter "The Last Night (Dawn/Kara Zor-El)" from JasonBarnett
Review:
Just doesn't work for me, Kara just walking out of her only family. Kara Zor-L, didn't know she was Kara Zor-L at that point in time, and has a limited relationship with Superman, and considering there's no Kryptonians where Dawn is the inclusion of that bit where she mentions Kara would be the last of her kind is pontless.
Comments from author:
Think you missed a few things in there... but that's okay. It happens to a lot of people.
