That one took me by surprise, nearly moved me to public tears and all.
Lord, I'd love to hear that song sung right now, by a good band like Cats Dancing or Leslie Fish and the Dehorn Crew; or maybe Bob Asprin just growling it out.

So the verses kinda go like James Taylor's "Fire and Rain" and the chorus starts out kinda like "Breakfast at Tiffany's" for the change in pace even though it doesn't really follow that but fades into something darker for the last lines. I don't sing very well but that's kinda how it goes in my head.

Wow. Short and powerful, and I absolutely loved it. That song reminded me of Simon and Garfunkel's "The Boxer", for some reason.
