Review of chapter "Secrets" from (Recent Donor)Deamondeathstone
Review:
Oh dear, Dawn with a fake I.D. at a Dingoes gig. Will she be drinking? And more importantly will she do something stupid while being drunk? Say sleep with a certain scoobie and make the whole uneasy friendship that Xander and Faith have going on a bit more uneasy? Or will her big sister catch her and her friends there before things go to far?

"Dawn with a fake I.D. at a Dingoes gig, will she be drinking" Who wouldn't?

"will she do something stupid while being drunk?" who doesn't?

"Say sleep with a certain scoobie and make the whole uneasy friendship that Xander and Faith have going on a bit more uneasy?" Being Socratic here, why do you keep thinking X and F will be friends?

"Or will her big sister catch her and her friends there before things go to far?" You don't think I'm going to give important plot like that away do you?

Okay, I definitely like this so far. I'm not always a fan of stories that explore the darker sides of characters because they usually go too far, but this doesn't seem to be heading in that direction at all. I also like the movies you've chosen to pull together here- while they all appear wildly dissimilar on the surface, the tones mesh pretty well. There's dark humor and gritty realism all around. I can't wait to see where you go with this.
Comments from author:
Oh thank you so much! I knew there had to be someone else out there who liked, Btvs, Gingersnaps and Good Will Hunting. I feel all excited (in a non icky way).

Not intending to be that dark with characters. Just explore their pysches a little.

Thank you for your review.

nice setting up of the character connections (hey, that fight at the hockey thing-the girl who seemed extra strong..I don't suppose Buffy croaked & a new one got called?) -- .... weird to think of Buffy with her dad...but it could happen... In a way I hope she doesn't take up slaying again, it'd be awful lonely for her in SunnyD with Giles at most with her...though I suppose Spike might be around... & she's always got Angel's group if she wants.
Hm, yep, Faith's parenting skills aren't top notch, but she's trying real hard, which is a big improvement from the tv series... I'm almost afraid to ask who Kennedy's half sister is going to turn out to be ----
All that's needed now is for Glory etc to make things really bad, Buffy gets called in to help (by Willow?)-- with Faith worrying about losing her new friends (Willow/Xander) and gradually realizing that Dawn likes Buffy a lot....
Comments from author:
The fight on St Mary's hockey field. Ginger Fitzgerald is a werewolf. (Gingersnaps - a Canadian Horror film is excellent) She also calls her sister B. and uses the word wicked as a noun as opposed to Bostonians who use it more as an adverb. Ginger who is a lot like a redheaded middle class Faith, is why this story is called 'the trouble with Big Sisters'.

Buffy with her Dad. My reasoning is Hank couldn't be bothered looking after Dawn, but wants to get closer to Buffy, now all alone in world. I don't know why M.E. character assassinated what seemed to be an okay Sunday dad into a callous bastard.

Buffy will slay in Europe it's crawling with vampires.

Kennedy's half sister is safely ensconced in a boarding school in New York State and will not be making an apppearance in this story.

Faith and Willow are unlikely to be friends and not to paraphrase Spike 'because they want to shag each other until they quiver'. They don't hate each others guts like they did in Season four because Faith never went insane and killed people, I see more the working relationship of adults and fellow reformed murderers they had in season seven.

Glory is the villian of this story. And seeing she is insane. I think the parallels between her and Faith are interesting. But then I find insanity interesting full stop.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review.

Review:
Excellent! ... perhaps at some point Faith could realize that Dawn, while loving her as a sister, doesn't have much respect for her? Not to mention the whole being the Key thing that will turn up later (might have to call for B's help on that one) .... hm...so they're not relocated to the Cleveland Hellmouth? heh.... one wonders which slayer spike will go after....
I agree that Faith could have gone a different way if she'd gotten some support, a watcher who cared about her (and that she respected) and all that stuff.... but would still be somewhat of a psycho.... (and now I'm wondering who Giles' replacement was, instead of Wesley...) meanwhile Oz & Willow showing up, could be fun.....
Comments from author:
You know I the author didn't realise that Dawn hasn't that much respect for Faith, until reading your comment, and you're right she doesn't and she should.

They will call in Buffy's help, after all Faith helped out Buffy twice.

No one is in Cleveland because Buffy never died saving Dawn. Therefore no mystical imbalance caused by Willow reviving Buffy magically.

Giles replacement don't worry about him. Buffy fired him and works with Giles freelance the way she did all season four.
