Spike is totally lame-O, but what's he going to do, come back during the day? And I totally buy the police wanting to check him out and therefore authorising the visit. I'm pretty sure her appartment said nothing about a fiancé though. I wonder if Spike'll end up suspect #1? And maybe Angel will become suspect with the cops at the house...

My suggestions are either A) Have the detectives find them banging on the door yelling for her or something (Most likely would be Spike, doubt Angel would do that) or B) Have one of their contacts find out which hospital Willow's at they meet up there, like Elliot and Olivia had finished up at her place, didn't find anything besides a few candles and incense or whatever (because of course if Willow kept any of her magic stuff she would effective hide it or magically protect it [if she's back to using magic] =P). Oops, anyways, they're done at her place and/or get a call that she's waking up and since they're closest they head over there to find out what happened, and viola there are our two favorites undead hotties. Those are the two ideas that popped into my head right away. Hope that helps ^_^ Good luck

If you really want them to be in Willow's apartment, then the fix is reasonably easy. Under her welcome mat (which wouldn't say welcome because it's canon that that counts as an invite to vamps) there's a note from willow saying "Spike and Angel you are welcome here" or under a pot plant or something. Something that gives explicit invite to them as a safety precaution of willow's.

You could have a flashback where Willow tells either Spike or Angel that anywhere she lives they are invited always. Broad sweeping invites seem to work ok. I always thought you'd have to invite them in each time, but they didn't on the show, so.. Also if she lives in an apartment, it would be like a hotel, only the individual rooms would be off limits for them, so they could wander the building and maybe get the super to let them in her room.
