Review of chapter "Where We Will, We'll Roam" from (Current Donor)DreamSmith
Review:
Hmm.
This is, overall, a lovely and sweet little tale.
Jack, though, is awfully... tame, I guess is the word? ('Whipped' would be harsh, and I'll be honest and admit that if *I* were given the chance to be with Buffy, I too would jump through any number of hoops to please her).
I guess time has mellowed ol' Jack quite a bit, and any returning 'wildness' is pretty much an informed attribute here. Don't get me wrong, I gladly buy into the idea of these two as a couple, I just wish we'd gotten to SEE some wacky adventure instead of being teased that it would happen.
I'll also agree with Janessa that it seems more than a little out of character for Jack to throw away his immortality, after working so hard to achieve it. When Buffy first proposes 'Breaking the Curse' I just sort of assumed she meant 'How about we see if there's a way to get you back on the ocean you love without breaking the immortality'... when it turned out to be a case of just chucking it all, I was like 'Whuuuuuuh?!?!?'

Oh well.
Still enjoyable, and as usual I'm envious of the writing chops on display in your work.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Review of chapter "Witty Jack" from (Recent Donor)JanessaRavenwood
Review:
This seems horrifically selfish of Buffy - "We've been dating for 3 years now, so would you *die* for me, pretty please?"

It's...rather jarring. As someone chasing immortality in real life (I have a cryonics contact, and follow developments of medical nanotechnology in development closely), it's unthinkable.

Jack is at least exhibiting some common sense here - he wants to find a *new* method of immortality to replace it.
Comments from author:
It's not the immortality itself, but the costs of the particular method he chose ... and the fact that Buffy has met innumerable immortal or immortal-ish folk at this point in her life and has yet to witness a method that doesn't leave the person worse off than before in some other key way.

(And no, I don't think he'd give up searching for one; and planning to talk her around eventually if he did find one. But given the general "if it seems too good to be true, you have no idea how awful it really is" gist of the Buffyverse, that's gonna be a tall order.)

Lindsey would make an excellent 'Dread Pirate Roberts" -- er, I mean, captain of the 'Dutchman'!

The real question is, if he gives up the immortality, will Jack go after the Pearl yet again?
Comments from author:
That is the implication. Since he did ask if Buffy would sail with him. =)
