This was very interesting. I'm not really sure why, but the thought of Jack as the Immortal is both really creepy and yet really, really fits.

Joyce as a Turner, huh? Well, it would explain the axe. Joyce had to get her attitude from somewhere.

I love the connections in this. Jack as the Immortal, and Dawn and the green flash of light. Great job!

I love this. I would love to see another story on this its such a fantastic idea.

I think Will should have mentioned something about the fact that Buffy had died herself, because that would have been an interesting conversation.

Great Job!

Cute.

Kinda wish after so many years of faithful service that Will would get more than 1 day every 10 years. Maybe 1 day per year instead.

I love it!

Hehe Jack as the Immortal. I'm very impressed. I've only ever seen one other ficlet involving POTC that I thought was any good and that actually fits with this one. Very well done.

I personally think doing an entire story along these lines would be good but I think I'll have to wait till I do it because no one else seems to want to do it.

Review:
very nice. I like the story idea and the way in which you've made it all fit together so nicely. I'm particularly pleased with the title and the bit about Will's role as ferryman - I've never thought of it in those terms before and they make a lot of sense.

I just hope that Jack's improved on his general hygiene for Buffy's sake! (although I can't imagine Buffy being with him if he hadn't). Wonderful little story that raises all kinds of scenarios in my mind, which is A Good Thing. And after a generally crappy day, this has lifted me no end.

Review of chapter "Daughters of Charon" from Cutiepie
Review:
Very interesting. I liked it, although I can't seem to imagine Jack settling down earth-side, and certainly not for long if he did.

I think this might be the right place to posit my question. It appears from this story that you don't, but I was wondering if anyone else thought that being the one that the Flying Dutchman returned for, or perhaps it was being the one to whom the heart was entrusted, endowed a form of immortality as well. After all, Mrs. Elizabeth Turner certainly had not aged ten years by the time he returned the first time (no matter that she had a 9+ year old child).
Comments from author:
I think any immortality for Jack would probably have a sting in the tail, for example, being forbidden ever to sail again; that's the unstated background for him here. Given that, I think "The Immortal"'s behavior in canon could have easily been attributed to Jack. =)

Re: your question, certain women blessed with beauty just don't appear to age between 21 and 31, and she certainly wasn't any older than 21 when Will was made Captain. You can make up some immortality-related reason if you like-- for example, pretend that Jack did find the Fountain of Youth and brought some of its waters back for her-- but there's no real support either way from that one movie scene.

Just as, from in-movie scenes only, there's no support for the theory that Will is freed after ten years of Liz's faithfulness, no matter what the authors say on the Internet. Writers are free to take it either way. =)
