Review:
I liked the story up until this most recent chapter. As it is I'm not sure how I feel about this development. The actions Sam took seem really OOC for me and I find it slightly unbelievable that Xander wouldn't have occasionally checked up on his friends even if they hadn't called him. I understand the need for plot devices, but the way it's been set up, I find myself feeling slightly uneasy. At the same time I can't really judge until I read where you plan on taking this plot development, so I'm looking forward to your next update.

WOW! Such an unexpected twist! Great update! I love the way everyone was trying to put Sam in her place, even though I tend to like her character. Can't wait to see what happens when Xander gets to London. :)

Review:
If Xander doesn't get some apologies from the Scoobs for not only assuming he was at fault and not listening when he says otherwise or checking to see if he was OK when they couldn't get in contact with him then I'd say they were showing that they really don't care about him.

Of course Giles isn't going to be thinking rationally. He's reacting from his heart, and as a result he's going to say and do things to Xander he's going to later regret.

PS. There's also the whole Anya/Xander wedding issue that's going to be lurking in the background in all this even if no one actually comes out and says anything about it.

Review of chapter "Chapter 24" from FireWolfe
Review:
I so did not see that coming. It does work even if it is a bit of a jump. I can see Giles going off the deep end. I can also see Xander giving Buffy time to cool off. The rest is a bit harder. Personally I think Sam should get her but kicked. There is no excuse for her to do what she did. Yeah Kinsey's daughter turned into a toasty critter is harsh. But she agreed to the rules then thought because of her position she would be safe. If she showed remorse or caring they may have spared her. Likely not but the arrogance was what set her fate. Sam should know better she has seen other cultures and knows not all rules are the same. Some are harsh and cold. The thing is she could have checked with the president to see if what the council said was true. As far as I could tell she just judged without facts. So I agree she was wrong. Xander should have checked in with someone. That was his mistake. He would have know that something was wrong had he done so. Giles should have listened. But again I see your point of over reaction. Somehow I do not think Xander will be to forgiving of Sam. Anyway great update and I hope more comes soon. I really like this story a lot.

This isn't how I wanted this chapter to go but writers block forced me to go with it. As for Giles....when it comes to any of his 'kids' he's a little crazy more so with Buffy and by extension Dawn. He isn't seeing Xander as a potential victim in all of this. He's seeing him as causing his surrogate daughter pain and that won't be tolerated. He also sees him neglecting his duties, duties that Xander himself wanted.

It's not an excuse but I just thought I'd explain somewhat. And I've always appropriated honesty especially when it comes to my writing. It's what makes me want to do better next time. But I ask for you hold out on complete judgment until the next chapter, it's release date is unknown, but I'm hoping all things will be explained.

I think you are taking certain comments too seriously.
These people seem to have no idea of how people actually react to things that happen in real life.

I can see Giles getting upset and reacting like a father who just learned that that his daughter's lover got her pregnant and may have dumped/abandoned her when he got the news.

Of course Giles isn't going to be thinking rationally. He's reacting from his heart, and as a result he's going to say and do things to Xander he's going to later regret.

But that's life.

Sam went too far messing with Xander's phone.
But Giles was a little snippy in not letting Xander explain considering how confused he was when Giles called.

Review of chapter "Chapter 24" from draconis
Review:
I have to agree with others when it comes to saying the actions portrayed by many in this story are totally Out Of Character.

Had the author initially claimed the story was going to treat the new council, Scoobies, etc. as "dark" versions of canon, I would have approached this with a different mind-set.

There are also some significant contradictions between what the characters say (or claim) and what they do (e.g. "we" don't kill humans...and then they turn right around and kill humans), that make reading the story a bit strained. It's difficult to reconcile the contradictions.

In 24, the main contradiction is that Giles...even the one in this version...wouldn't give Xander the chance to explain. This Giles is all too cognizant of the misunderstandings of the past, how they have damaged the group, and yet here he is apparently ready, able, and indeed frothing at the bit to jump at repeating the same kind of actions that have caused so much trouble in the past. His unilateral blaming (without all the information) and his actions simply aren't reasonable here. They've all had trouble with inter-personal communications in the past, and they're having them now...so what does Giles do? He sends Buffy off to be isolated? It makes zero sense.

If there were some hints that some spell has been affecting people, causing them to act crazy...then that would change things...but there have been no hints of this nature, so I must conclude this is the fractured reality the author intends to impart.

I've stopped tracking the story...something I don't often do. I think it's irredeemable in its current form.
