Review:
Doom's in a tizzy because his son (Xander) gave him a nutshell dump of his life up to that point, and we also get some backstory on Doom's own encounters with Hellmouths (including one in Latveria itself). To put it bluntly, Doom hates Hellmouths more than he hates Reed Richards - and has far greater cause. Victor von Doom merely wants to be respected and left alone. It would take a rather odd turn of circumstances for Reed Richards to grasp that (and he went to college with the guy). I mentioned in an earlier review that nothing about Doom is *typical Big Bad* any more than is true of Magneto. However, mess with his family, and he becomes as protective as either Reed OR Sue Richards - VERY protective. (Doom's comments to Xander in the previous chapter about Janna Kalderdash could easily have come from the Latverian dictator speaking about *any* Latverian who died outside the country. It's also why there is currently an *alliance* between Reed and Doom - that's right; Marvel's Longest Running Frenemy Feud is currently in abeyance.)

What a lot of reviewers seem to be forgetting is that Victor von Doom is no more your typical Big Bad than Magneto (Eric Lensherr). In fact, in *any* of their many confrontations, did Doom *or* any member of the Fantastic Four try directly to kill anyone on the other side? Even Ben Grimm hasn't wanted Victor dead, though he *has* spoken quite openly to Victor's face about pummeling him into next year. In fact, Victor von Doom has something in common with the Master of Magnetism (and with Reed Richards, for that matter) - you don't mess with their family (which is why Quentin Travers has a rather large price on his noggin). Victor is also quite aware he doesn't have to worry about either the Snake or the Troll, as Alexander Lavelle von Doom AKA Xander Harris AKA Xander von Doom took care of those two problems, thank you very much. So now Victor is headed west, and specifically to California. This meeting will be Decidedly Interesting.

? What's got doom all in a tizzy? Angel still being alive would have sent him to LA and faith would have sent him to the hospital, not the sunnyhell motor lodge... You'd mentioned somthing about the situation with the mayor and the hellmouths but you never really clarified it in this snippit, though the background on Doom was sort of nice, I never really payed much attention to the F4 commics.
Comments from author:
One of the fundamental points that all the varied authors of the series get right is that 1. you do not betray Von Doom, and 2. you do not make Von Doom look foolish.
Wilkins did both and than left an undefended Hellmouth active in his son's hometown, something that Von Doom has already dealt with once and is ill prepared to handle again, should the Hellmouth be opening. since no one had the sense to check once a massive magic convergence was held over the portal followed by a sizable explosion he is on his way to check on that... he does have reason to be concerned.
and do you really believe that Silver Sable would spend any time whatsoever in the Motor Lodge?
Hope that explains a bit.

Review:
If Buffy was going through the Watcher books and knew that he had expelled all demons from his territory then wouldn't she also know at least a little about the "true" history that you created for Van Doom and that therefore he is potentially not quite as evil as he's made out to be. Kind of like Angel or Cordelia, putting up a tough front but actually does care (again, just possibly, I doubt she'd completely rule out the idea of him being evil).
Comments from author:
Buffy only knows what the TV says (Von Doom = Bad.) and what Giles has reported, Giles only knows what the watchers council has reported and the watchers council is truly scared of Von Doom. the fact that he has removed the demons means he is very powerful, it has never meant that he was nice.
So Giles is scared of Von Doom.
Latveria is a very insular country, information from within the borders doesn't really get out to the general public, the Books and Tomes and Scripts from thousands of years ago are nearly worthless and the more recent reports all paint Von Doom in a very very very not nice picture.
hope that explains a bit.
