Neat. Once Nimitz gets over the whole time travel thing, I can see him convincing Cordelia to be somewhat different than her usual bratty self. And I can only imagine what Weber calls a "furry six-limbed buzz saw" could do to a vamp. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I do think that Nimitz will be a good influence on Cordy :-) And yes, he is rather impressive in action...it might take a bit of effort to get to the heart or decapitate a vamp, but he's the 'cat for the job!

Question, have you even read the honor harrington series. Cause if you did you would know that one pistol round (in a magazine of at least 200) is near or completely lethal if you are hit anywhere and have two types of ammo; explosive and non-explosive.

Hit in the hand, your arms blown off.
Hit in the torso, blown in half.

So as you can see that crap about a gun not affecting anything is total bullshit, come up with a good reason so the story flows better case that just gouged out my eye.

I have to turn your own question back at you: Have you read the series? Yes, the pulsers carried by most of the contemporary characters, including her armsmen, do have that kind of capability, however Honor typically does not carry one – she usually carries a .45 Colt M1911 semi-automatic. And while this will still blow a rather large hole in things, if it would work against most of what inhabits the Whedon-verse I suspect that Buffy would already be carrying one since it is available in the here-and-now - although that wouldn’t make for as good a show… Also, Cordelia went as Honor in full dress uniform –can you really see Cordelia doing any less?- which is why she had a sword on her at all; and while I don’t recall any confirmation one way or the other from the books, I imagine that for formal occasions Honor would be carrying one or both of her dueling pistols that she used to kill both Denver Summervale and Pavel Young (and this is after all MY imagination)
Of course, all this is completely beside the point. If my story has caused you to gouge out an eye, you might be better off not reading any further :-)

Yay! Thanks for the fast update. Poor Nimitz. If they can't get him back to his universe can they at least bring him a girlfriend? I hope Cordy retains some of Honor's combat skills. I'd love to see her kick Buffy's stylish butt at least one time. Lol!

That would be a fun fight...don't get me wrong, I LIKE Buffy but she does occasionally need to be taken down a peg or two. Of course, on that note Cordelia needs to be taken down a couple of dozen pegs ;-)

hm...Buffy IS right, it's from Halloween, and Cordelia is very different...
* If you want to get weird, have Xander's Soldier knowledge be from Honor's universe, too... ok, that's reaching a bit...
as far as sending Nimitz back and/or summoning more---maybe in a few years willow could do that--by s6 she could do pretty much anything---....but I doubt they'll manage it now...
The best they can hope for is, Nimitz 'bonds' to Cordelia or someone else. Plus I bet Willow at least will read the HH novels...
Of course this is sunnydale, so everybody will just think Cordelia has a big cat....

I adore this. When I 1st saw it I thought you were going with Bujold and Cordelia Vorkosigan nee Naismith. But I think I like this much better.

To my great shame I haven't actually read the Vorkosigan Saga, although several of my friends have urged me to...but it IS on my "To Do" list :-)

Thanks for the review so quick ;-) I'm not sure how much of Honor Cordy will keep, but having Nimitz around will keep it fresher than everyone else's borrowed memories!

I've always thought Cordy was underused in fanfic, so seeing her as the primary in this story is a plus. Just don't change her character too much; her biting wit and lack of tact are two of her most interesting features. I wonder if either Xander or Willow will recognize Nimitz for what (and who) he is, thus identifying Cordy's costume. One thing worries me though; unless Nimitz could somehow differentiate between REAL demons and transformed children to apply less-than-lethal force to the latter, the consequences of "Honor's" battle could become very messy.

Thanks for the review! I'm going to try very hard to not change her character too much, but as was shown in AtS she does have a nice -even if still not tactful- side when given the chance.
And, well, about the kids? As near as I can tell from the episode, there wouldn't have been a way to differentiate since they were physically changed...and I'm afraid that the kids/demons who attacked Honor and Nimitz are toast. Oopsie?
