This story is amazingly addicting to read. I find myself reading words and phrases over and over as Buffy's story resonates so deeply. Your Buffy is a profoundly sympathetic character. Her confusion, anguish, her uncompromising nature as Protector are so true and feel so real that it is painful and wonderful and makes me jitter with nerves trying to figure out what she will do next and really, what exactly is going on. You've done such a great job of tying the reader up in Buffy's bewilderment that we feel as if we are wandering through the story with the same baffled disorientation; we are somehow just as committed as she is to defending all these vulnerable anita-verse characters. I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see what her beast becomes and what will happen when she meets Anita, Jean-Claude and the Council.

Of all your stories I think this one is my favorite. Seeing Buffy lacking so much of herself and yet still so willing to do whatever it takes to protect people who cannot protect themselves. Even when they are not as innocent as she first thought. I love the little touches that show her past experiences are still within her and affecting her reactions even if she does not consciously remember them. If she ever does meet the vampire council then they better be polite!

You updated and I'm thanking God with every reread. I have *loved* this story and I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw there were updates! You did not disappoint. Loving confused Buffy and the confusion with Rafael. I really like how Buffy is, "well... how about I just kill them and I'll be back in time for lunch?" It was awesome. And badass. I have absolutely no idea what's going on, but totally love it. Never read any Anita Blake, but this is tempting me to! Here's hoping that 'Anne' gets her momories back, or at least some of them and that the Slayer Spirit, if that's what moves beneath her skin, comes to the fore once more! great stuff.
