It was nice to see that Jack and Dawn aren't on each other's "Never Gonna Happen!" list. I also like the idea that you are going to expand on "Deja Vu". However, I still stand by my earlier comments; although "The Hogwarts Chonicles" (better check for that title; it seems too good to have remained unused) would fill in some of the backstory for TSC, I'm sure Harry, Ron and Hermoine would have questions for Jack and Dawn that would be hard to answer without spoiling FE's missing chapters. In addition, it seems sort of inevitable that sooner or later the Scoobies (and Jack's "kids") will be dragged into Jack's old world; that story would certainly *require* the completion of FE. (Look on the bright side; if your writing wasn't so good, I wouldn't want to read the end of FE, or its sequels, so much. ;) )
Comments from author:
Thank you! I will definitely expand on Deja Vu but, realistically, it will be quite some time before I even get to think about what to write (at one point I had thought having Deja Vu 'verse the basis of the sequel to FE but that has gone out the window because Kit and Carlos aren't in the 'verse). I don't intend the Hogwarts Chronicles to be any longer than TSC (right now, at least). But you do have a point. If I write THC prior to FE completion, I'll have to wait posting it until at least I've posted any chapters of FE that contain referenced events.
That being said, once exams are over, FE and some of my other WIPs will be my focus for a while (and I do have a sequel planned). Thanks for your feedback.

I loved this fic, and the last chapter is perfect. It leaves the doors open for a relationship between Dawn and Mini!Jack at some point down the road when he's not so wigged out by a relationship between himself and someone so much "younger" than he is.
Great job on this fic and I can't wait to see more on FE. (I saw in one of your comments to another reviewer that it should be ready next weekend *yay*) BTW, I'd *love* to read the 'Hogwarts Chronicles' if and when you write it.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I like these stories so far, but my enjoyment of them runs into a certain brick wall. It's a bit difficult to understand the relationships between the characters when we don't know how the first story ended. When Jack fully processes the true nature of Dawn's universe, it will change how he looks at things forever. It is clear in these stories that Jack has some sort of long range plan regarding Kit and Carlos, and has established certain relationships with Dawn and the Scoobies. What these are will depend a great deal on how the main story ends and on how much Jack is willing to tell the others about his past. Until we know that, we won't have a proper framework to put these stories into, and some of Jack's thoughts and actions won't make complete sense. (Of course, some of *that* might just be Jack being Jack. ;) )
Comments from author:
You do have a point there and I'm aware that some moments in the fics might be fully understood until FE has been completed. There are only a few things in these ficlets that are truly dependant on the original fic (I tried to keep it all to a minimum). Most of their relationship of the 'team' evolves post Fragile Existence (with the obvious exception of Dawn), but you're right that some of Jack's thoughts won't make complete sense (especially with respect to Buffy and Jack -- which was what I was referring to above -- and the comment about magic).
I've tried to keep the foreshadowing and referencing to past events to a minium and hoped that people have been able to imagine the friendship between the foursome evolve.
Although, I can say Jack's protectiveness and his need to ensure his friends safety actually come from Jack's personality and his actions in Stargate SG-1 as opposed to any grand event.
Thank you. I really appreciate your feedback.

You captured Jack's essence perfectly in this chapter.
He simply can NOT choose to save one friend over another, so he needs to make sure that 'his' people know what it takes to survive whatever it is they might come across, or whatever might come looking for them.
And the line about there being no lines he wouldn't cross to save his people is a perfect description. He *might* feel bad about something he did to save someone he cares about (maybe), but he'd still do it. If I lived in this 'verse, my personal plans for survival would include never getting in Jack's way if he was working to save his friends and other loved ones, 'cause I would prefer to avoid becoming road kill. ;-)
Good job.
Looking forward to the next chapter of FE whenever you can get it done.
Comments from author:
Thank you! You've grasped exactly what I was trying to convey. Without military regulations and barriers separating him from his team, Jack's much more open (at least to himself) about the lengths he would go for his friends. His only fear is losing them and he's willing to go to any lengths to make sure he won't. He does feel guilty about the sorts of things he's going to teach them, but the alternative is unthinkable for him.
And you're right about not wanting to get into Jack's way. :D
The next chapter of FE is, I *think* is actually done. I say 'think' because it needs something. If I eventually work out what's wrong with it,I'll post it next weekend.

I love that Jack is still Jack. He inherently wants to save everybody but knows that he wont always be there so either he works with the best (i.e. SG1) or he trains them himself. Both he and Buffy have a 'leave no one behind' viewpoint, you are dead on about Buffy choosing Dawn over others when Jack wouldn't choose at all. I dont think there is even a choice for him to choose one over the others. This is such a good fanfic I cant stay away from it. I've read the main story a few times through already cause I cant stay away from it. Fantastic.
Comments from author:
Thank you!
The fact that Buffy will choose Dawn is another reason (one not mentioned in the chapter) why Jack doesn't trust Buffy and Giles to train Kit and Carlos. It's also partly why Jack doesn't completely trust Buffy with anything but Dawn. He can't choose between his friends, I think if he had to it would kill him.

Cut fic A bit fluffy but it works well with the original series. And speaking of it there any hope of an soon to be update on the fragile fic? I really can't wait for the next chapter
Comments from author:
Thank you! Yep, I agree with the fluffiness (which is why I named it the Sap Chronicles). It's a good break from the original fic.
Speaking of... I can't actually promise anything (given my Uni committments), but I can say that I have been writing the next chapter of FE while writing and working on the Sap Chronicles. I'm not sure how far I'll get before I'm forced to stop, but there might be an update earlier than late June.

The sad thing is, Ben and Jerry's now has an ice cream based off of Guinness Beer, so i guess there sorta is a beer flavoured ice cream. I haven't had it so i'm not quite sure...
Comments from author:
Do they really? Seriously? (I'm an Aussie, so we don't get Ben and Jerry's here, at least not in the supermarket).
You know, we did have alcohol flavoured chocolate biscuits released here a few years back (Tia Maria, Kahlua etc), but they pretty much crashed and burned. Personally, I like my chocolate biscuites chocolate flavoured.
