If I remember right J.Sheppard has a older brother, 'cause in one of the last episode of this season when he went to his father funeral with Ronon, there are a fight between the two brothers on his choice of career and his lack of interest on the family business.

Very recently, there was an ep where Sh's father died, so he goes back for the funeral & meets his brother... very forgettable, feel free to erase all that. I do wonder what the reason is for giving up his kid... sure hope he's got a good reason.
I was about to suggest Cordelia use Willow's hacking skills on the internet, but this is just after C. caught Willow & Xander kissing...so that's probably not a good idea. Heh. Maybe C. will do this search instead of "making a wish"...
So... if C. figures out who he is, will she end up going to air force academy instead of LA? Will the NID think to use her against Shepherd? Inquiring minds want to know!
