Review of chapter "~~ The Whirlybirds get the Wyrm! ~~" from JoeDineen
Review:
Was reviewing the last chapter when I accidentally shut down my browser. Current chapter ok, but filler. But Andrew worshiping at the altar of Gygax, Lucas and Tolkien was very funny. Anyway it set me thinking. Buffy season two was in 1998 and so D&D was under AD&D 2 rules and thus before the time of troubles. Am I right? So they D&D crew would have limited intel on future realms events.
Comments from author:
That's a very good point. It was under those rules and they are actually what I am drawing most of my info from. It took a while to dig them all out, but it's been fun so far.

Review:
I Just realised something:
All campuses of the University of California System have a medical school (though UCLA's teaching hospitals are in Compton and the Valley rather than Westwood), except for Berkley (which is what UC San Francisco Law and Medical Schools are for) and Merced (Which didn't exist at the time and is still growing into it's role).
Wouldn't the UC Sunnydale Phyisical Plant be still running, or has that run out by now?
Comments from author:
Truth be told, I didn't know about the Physical plant at all. What does it do? Does it generate power?
The medical school is a good suggestion as well. It will be needed some time.

Review:
I've seen this idea done in S.M. Stirling's Island in the Sea of Time, and in the "1632" series, and I've always liked it. Those stories however dealt with cities travelling to previous historical periods.
I haven't seen one done with a city sent to a fantasy world, and I have to admit that it's high time.
The potential for this story is huge...politics, the clash between cultures, magic and Buffy's role in the new world.
You even avoided having the language barrier being easily overcome.
So far this looks like an awesome premise, and I'm happy with the execution too. Vampires getting blown into the sun...brilliant.
Keep up the good work!
Comments from author:
Thanks for the good words. That's especially great from you, considering how awesome your Veritas ended up.

Review of chapter "~~ Discussions ~~" from JoeDineen
Review:
So just caught this. Sunnydale in the Realms, ala Islands in the Sea of Time or Grantville in the 1632 series is a cool idea. Maggie Walsh is now even more in over her head. Will priests and ministers of Christ and Rabbis now develop clerical powers? It would be interesting if they did. After all crosses and holy water have power over the supernatural.
I am not a realms expert but I guess Myth Drannor or Hellgate Keep would be the nearest hell mouths. It will be fun to see how the mayor plans to take over one or the other.
Comments from author:
True, Hellgate Keep does have the potential, it's just a question about what they will hear about first.
Maggie Walsh is over her head, but this time she cannot ignore it. Wait for the next chapter for some fun.
I hadn't thought about the Sunnydaler holy people getting clerical powers, but I'll think on it. might be fun.

Review:
Very cool fic, though if memory serves Myth Glaurach(?) is located in the nether mountains and has a rogue mythal circa 1369. Also, Sojourn takes place at least 20 years before the time of troubles. When we start the Icewind dale trilogy, Cattie Brie is a kid. She's quite a bit older by the time Siege of Darkness takes place, which has the Time of Troubles in it.
Awesome fic though.
Edit: Also, wouldn't Gond's Edict prevent Guns/Humvees/Most other modern devices from working, given that it can stop Technojammers/spell jammers/most other extraplanar technology?
Edit Two: Either way, awesome fic. I can't wait to see more. :D
Comments from author:
I can't believe I forgot about that! You're absolutely right!
Oh, this adds something new for the next few chapters.
Myth Glaurach was the City of Scrolls, an old ruined Eaerlanni city that was built on an earlier city. Anything that's left for them would be a foot hold onto new learning. The Sunnydale Archaeology department is going to have fun with this.
And you're absolutely right about the time line. There is a lot of established events in FR that have not taken place yet, and might not take place at all. Although considering Sunnydale being Sunnydale, the Time of Troubles would be kind of amusing all things considered. I don't really anticipate the events of the Icewind Dale trilogy to have any effect until Akar Kessel messes things up.

A very good and entertaining story. Loved the battle and Buffy's part. I'm aghast at Walsh actually thinking and planning beyond what to dissect next. Still hoping an Orc guts her.
Comments from author:
Actually, I was planning to mix things up, some former bad guys working out for the better and some people ending up as the "I had the best intentions" kind of villains.
It's going to be fun. I'll be updating more soon.

Review:
This is a very interesting start to one I haven't seen before. The whole town gone should cause all kinds of investigations back on Earth and Drizzit meeting the Scoobies let alone a town full of Earth folk and Demons.Wow.
Comments from author:
I'm actually not going to worry about Earth so much, but there will be a brief chapter based on the results. You are very right that it should be a big deal.
Perhaps after I am done with this one, I'll write something about the other side.
