Review of chapter "Sundering Changes, part 2" from greyduke
Great story. The only problem I have with this chapter is when Xavier said: "Yes, I wanted your opinion on some thing. Cerebro registered a very strong mutant last night. As strong as me and Magneto. I have been unable to lockdown the signature due to the nature of the mutant's powers, they are entirely psionic in nature and create a disturbance I couldn't penetrate. Even then I worry if I should even reach out to this one. I am not sure we are ready to pick up more students right now. We'd need more teachers. You and I are stretching ourselves very thin at the moment," he said.

At this point I don't know what's he's thinking? He's going to let a mutant who's as strong as him or Magneto run around loose without knowing anything about him/her? He's not going to try to get him/her on his side just because it would be a stretch on the staff? I would try to get someone this strong on my side as soon as possible since if I don't Magneto might or someone else. He then goes on to say: "Yes, but I will keep an eye on this one. Mutants as powerful as you or I are very rare," Xavier mused.

What is he thinking? I have a hard time understanding why he's doing this. Is he trying to help Magneto get a powerful mutant? It would be better not to need to keep an eye on someone, instead it would be so much better to know that you can influence them into believing and understanding your world view and to get them to share your ideas. It does no good to just watch someone if you can't change their actions. Other than this, I really enjoyed your story. Hope to read more about Buffy and her powers soon. By the way, why didn't Giles go and ask a Seer about what happened to Xander and use magic to find out where he is?
Comments from author:
Yeah, but Xavier has to consider his own position first. What would happen if you get a volatile young mutant in and don't have the teachers and school ready to handle it? I wrote it because I felt he would be trying to be responsible given the recent problems and losses he just suffered. Also remember Magneto unlike Xavier doesn't have a good way of tracking mutants. Maybe Xavier is gambling a little. He knows the one he detected is powerful, but he can't go after everyone considering how many millions of mutants there are in the X-Men universe especially when he has just lost his strongest teacher Jean and his right hand man is barely functional. As for Giles and the Seer and why he is so damn absent that won't be really be revealed until the last section of Chapter 5.

This is an interesting and fairly intriguing world you're showing us, and I like the changes from canon you've made.

Will Xander and Buffy end up on opposite sides of whatever climactic battle eventually occurs? I ask because Toad is definitely not one of the nicer characters in the X-verse, and I'm guessing that Xander is going to eventually meet up with Magneto.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what else you've got in store.
Comments from author:
Xander and Buffy will be exposed to different world views but their stories and personalities are their own and so will their decisions be. While friends Buffy and Xander deal with moral decisions in very different ways. Buffy is more of an idealist than Xander in some ways, but she can get turned around by her personality and love life. Xander makes a show of being an idealist but his motivations are usually deeply personal and is guided entirely by his opinion rather than high minded idealist ideas. Don't forget Willow in this (who in the Buffyverse is the double for Jean Grey/Phoenix) she begins and in a way stays even more pure and yet emotionally guided than both Buffy and Xander (see her reaction to pain of the world -> end the world).

You're by the way guessing a lot of things correctly ;)

So far, totally cool!

So, big white light with height...hmmm.

btw, it's Rogue, not Roque, but I can easily see that typo happening ;)

Comments from author:
Damn I will correct that immediately. Thanks for the review

There aren't that many notSlayer!Buffy stories, so that's a big plus :) And your writing is great as usual. The two chapters so far, while they weren't overly long they felt like they were very much packed with plot, but it wasn't all moving too fast. So that's a perfect 10 from me so far :) Can't wait for more. I'm very curious to see what Buffy's powers will be.
Comments from author:
I am trying for a notSlayer!Buffy this time because really in Buffy Carter she is very much a Slayer just one that so far has had demons to slay (seriously considering how to make the enemy in Bring on the Fire seem more impressive but that is for another story some time next year or so).

Oh don't get your expectations of her powers too high. They are pretty simple in their basic idea, their application is a bit more complex (look at the trick Magneto can do with his power). Buffy's power is psionic, meaning there is a mental power behind it all. Personally I don't think they are very clever and I had originally given Buffy teleporting powers and a physical nature akin to Spiderman, but I decided to give her really big weapons for a change and see where her character runs with having awesome power as well as finding joy in having it. But still the powers themselves not my most creative power set ever, you wouldn't know this by I am an avid Pen and Paper Roleplaying Gamemaster with 19 years of experience by now and amongst my GM duties has been hosting something like years of Marvel Superheroes games with all selfmade heroes, lots of fun, but kind of makes you of a know it all when it comes to superpowers.

Loving this story and loving that there is another post for me to read after I get done posting this.

So, Xander can heal then kill or kill then heal. A very intriging power...

Also, you told Tanydwr "3) The Buffy/Angel relationship is over for this entire story. I have an entirely different boy in mind for her and in fact I am working on one for Xander too."

I hope that you mean you have a girl friend for Xander and not a boyfriend!

James who is so glad you are writing again!
Comments from author:
Yeah, I've picked a boyfriend for Buffy and I am looking at a girlfriend for Xander. In fact the only one I haven't planned a love life for in this story is Willow.

I never stop writing but you only get to see the few things I like enough to actually post. I have something like three 40000 words stories incomplete but halfway written that I've messed around with before I settled on this. I have a rule I don't post something unless I want to finish something. So if I don't feel like finishing something you won't see it (over the years that has amounted to a big load of half-finished stories in a half dozen fandoms and a nice little stack of Buffy and Buffy crossovers as well are all linger on my harddrives and backups).

Review of chapter "Sundering Changes, part 2" from AllenPitt
Hopefully this time Giles will use the seer to check up on Xander. X. will probably not be rescue-able (is that even a word?) by Giles... so it looks like he & Toad will have to manage an escape...
AIM/ Hydra--that was funny --don't forget AIM was once part of Hydra & split off a while back...not that that matters much. I sure hope Hank had a will & a Swiss bank acct.
And poor Buffy is out in the cold until Magneto or Xavier finally get around to trying to recruit her. Ouch. Lucky thing she was the slayer for a year, original-Buffy wouldn't have survived even this far. And Hank--wow, there was more to him than I thought. Poor Joyce, though.
I sure hope Willow develops a mutant power; though I have to admit I'm now wondering if her parents are secretly Magneto and Mystique or something like that...
Comments from author:
Actually for now Giles believes Xander is dead, but yeah he and Toad will manage something.

Yeah AIM was once Hydra's scientists and I had it mentioned off hand, but really that won't come into play again immediately. The HYDRA / AIM angle is a story hook I am using for later. Hank had a will, but with Buffy having to play dead she won't be seeing much of it.

Yeah Buffy is on her own for a while, because I felt I needed to motivate her to leave Sunnydale. Hank and Joyce will ghost through the story because I didn't think of a good way to include her.

As for Willow there won't be mutant powers for her. This is not a thing everyone gets. Xander was one. He awakened Buffy's latent powers while he healed her, but not Willow. I have something else in store for her.

I see you hyave decided that Scott Summers will participate in this story. Is there a reason why? The last movie left the audience believe that he is dead.
Comments from author:
There is a reason why, which is given in the Author Notes. I'd like both him and the professor for the story, so this is set after Movie number 2 not Movie number 3, which I am happily ignoring because it was the crappy one of the X-Men trilogy.
