Review of chapter "Hypothetical Relations" from TroyGuffey
Review:
The idea of Xander being a "spy" for the Watchers in Atlantis is a nice one, and well written.

The idea of Xander/Rodney is a complete distortion of both of their canon characters.
Comments from author:
I'm glad you were interested enough in the premise to read and review.

As for Xander/Rodney being a complete distortion...sorry, no. Stating your opinion of the pairing as a fact is bad form, and while I can see how you would come to that conclusion, any argument you make that a Xander/Rodney pairing is against their canon characters, I have a counter-argument. Was Xander ever depicted as canonically gay or bisexual? No, but only because the writers finally decided to make Willow gay instead. They were always going to make either Xander or Willow gay and only chose Willow in Season 4; they had already begun preparing for Xander to be gay with all the interactions with Larry in Seasons 2 and 3. Since BTVS characters are not static, it is fully possible that Xander could find himself attracted to guys a few years after 'Chosen.' For Rodney, it has been shown in Canon that he like women, but nothing about whether he does or does not like men and since he thinks everyone is less intelligent than him he'd have no problems with Xander. Since there are no Canonical crossovers between BTVS and Stargate, character interactions are totally up to the author of the fanfic. In my series 'Xander in Atlantis' Xander and Rodney sparked.

Now I'm pretty sure you read and reviewed this fic after I changed X/R to Xander/Rodney, so you came in fully aware of the pairing. To me, that gives you no excuse for reading the fic and then complaining about the pairing. Remember this next time you dislike a certain pairing. If you don't like it and want to express this to an author, please phrase your opinion as an opinion and give reasons why.

Review:
The age thing doesn't really count because a fic with a FR21 rating could also be a fic about say Giles having a group grope with the Cordettes. Personally i'd just be gratefull if every slash fic on this site had the slash icon, that way it would always be clear at a glance that the fic would not be a het readers cup of tea.
Comments from author:
FR21 is for graphic depictions of sex and violence, so unless the Cordettes were nude and the group grope was described in detail, it'd be FR18 at maximum. Regular groping sounds like nookie to me, and that's an FR18 rating right there.

As for the slash icon, if I gave no context of the relationship between Xander and Rodney it would be possible, though a bit hard, to read this fic as a straight Xander-being interrogated by Weir scene with no pairings whatsoever. If you would still like to continue arguing about slash icons, please go to the forums, look in 'Site Discussion' and post your comments in 'Ticking the Slash Box.'

Review:
Glad to see an update to this series, and I loved that this was a bit longer than the last installment. The only really awkward bit was your first sentence "Dr. Weir eyed him from her across from him behind her desk." It doesn't really make any grammatical sense.
Comments from author:
I don't like that sentence either, but I can't seem to make it better. Suggestions?

Thank you for the review. :)

Edit: Just changed the sentence to something more bearable.
