Any chance for an update, formal abandonment, or finding someone else to take up the burden?

The story hasn't been abandoned, which is why there's a hiatus note on it. Therefore, there's no need for someone else to take it up. Unfortunately, updates will be slow in coming because the flash drive with all my notes on it broke. The metal part that plugs into the computer popped off and I've had to send it away to some place that does data retrieval. So, for right now, sadly, the answer to all of these questions is no.
