Review of chapter "Chapter Three" from MistDragon
Review:
I am loving this story! After the first couple of seasons Jim was an a**hole that really didn't deserve Blair. I would really enjoy Teal'c teaching him a lesson! Thank you for the story, MD.
Comments from author:
Thank you so much! Watching Murder 101, I can't help but think that Blair deserves better. I'm a huge Blim girl, but Jim needs to learn to take better care of his friends, and Teal'c will be teaching that lesson.

Great update! I loved the interactions of all the characters, their thoughts on the others actions and reactions. I can't wait to read more.
Comments from author:
Thank you so much. Teal'c's POV is very different for me, so I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Teal'c really picks up on the details, doesn't he?
He's a highly underused character - thanks for treating him with such respect.
Comments from author:
I think Teal'c is one who would notice a whole lot. I haven't done much with him in the past because he doesn't talk much, but getting to delve into his thoughts is a lot of fun.

I don't think I've been reviewing on LJ even though I've been reading this over there...

I love how you are building the Sentinel relationship from Teal'c's outside viewpoint. At times I love you have him puzzled about just why those two are together. I want to slap Jim through most of this, but I also want to slap Jack a few times too (though not as much as Jim).

PS: I also modified your secondary category listing... since this is a non-BtVS/AtS crossover, it had to go in the Stargate > Non-BtVS/AtS section...

I'm eagerly awaiting the end of the story over on LJ. :-)
Comments from author:
I'm glad that you've been enjoying it. I don't always bring non-BtVS crossovers over here, but I thought this one might find an audience. And that's fine that you changed it.

Review:
Excellent start. Really like the dynamics of alphas butting heads and betas being a bit stuck on what to do.

I'm sure Ellison's Sentinel abilities must be going nuts about "Murray". (which by the way, introducing "Murry" without a surname also makes him stand out from the others when all the other are introduced with surnames. Something the SG-1 series failed to recognize as well.)

I don't recall Blair being that submissive in the TV series so perhaps there's something that occurred (in books/comics? which I've not read) after The Sentinel series to change the Blair/Ellison dynamic so drastically? It seems he's in a virtually constant state of intimidation.

Edit after author response:
I haven't seen that episode. It does sound odd. Perhaps the writers were trying to publicize the fact that many campus rapes are almost totally ignored by the police. The campus administrators (often with VERY powerful political and financial connections) generally want to downplay any incidents that will put the perceived safety of their campus in a bad light. I've read of cases where the victim was traumatized by the POLICE and campus security trying to make it appear that the victim was responsible for the rape, or even better, that it wasn't rape at all and the victim was just trying to "cause trouble" for some reason or other. Obviously you've been exposed to at least some of the elements of campus politics to be aware they exist and can almost be used as a weapon against "troublemakers"....destroying careers, reputations, etc.
Comments from author:
It's fun to let the alphas growl at each other. And most of the time, Blair is ready to get in there and growl with the best of them, but I started this after watching Murder 101, a fourth season episode where Jim refuses to help Blair with a rape case on campus, dismisses an assault on Blair and generally acts like an ass. It's an odd episode.

Edit after the "Edit after author response:"
I did work for a university, and the politics is absolutely ugly. I never saw Jim as someone who is likely to be influenced by that sort of power play, though. I honestly don't know why he would act so coldly toward Blair this episode, but I think I want to explore his motives later in the story... after I've had a chance to torture him for being an ass.

Way to go, Teal'c. I'd bring popcorn and help form a cheering section if and when he gets the chance to give Ellison an attitude correction. More, more, more, please. I hope your muse and schedule will allow you to write and post more chapters sometime soon. Keep up the good work. Zafaran {mailto:} zafaran {at} fastmail {dot} fm
Comments from author:
Teal'c is a scary dude, and right now, he is not happy with Jim. So, feel free to grab the popcorn because Jim is going to hear about this... eventually. I do tend to write epics.

Review:
Nicely done. Ellison was so nasty during Murder 101, and with the physical description of Blair, you've got to wonder if he's not still having problems with the aftermath of his drowning. I'm eagerly looking forward to finding out if Blair gets to the Mountain and out of Jim's very questionable orbit. Even though there are several more episodes in the run of The Sentinel, I'd not be disappointed to see this story be the beginning of an AU that removes Blair from the abuse in Cascade and gives him a future that's not linked to Jim Ellison. I hope your muse and schedule will allow you to write and post more chapters sometime soon. Keep up the good work. Zafaran {mailto:} zafaran {at} fastmail {dot} fm
Comments from author:
That episode just absolutely pisses me off. Jim acts like an absolute jerk, and I do want to get into the "why" of his behaviro a little later. And I definitely plan to give Blair a good life, although I'm not sure where, yet.

Review:
I'm really enjoying the story. I loved the Sentinel! You have captured the voices of all the characters really well. I loved the scene in the first chapter where Jim and Blair meet SG1, the thoughts and reactions throughout the scene were great. And the conversation between Blair and Daniel in the second chapter was wonderfully done. I love Teal'c's observations throughout the story. And the realization of Carter and Teal'c that their trouble magnet was off with an equal trouble magnet was funny. I look forward to reading more.
Comments from author:
Thank you so much. I'm always glad to hear that my characterization "sounds" right to other people. I do love these guys and I want them to sound recognizable.

Good chapter and scenarios. Looking forward to an alterate end of this "season" and situation in TS universe. And maybe some nookie for Teal'c (or gasp a real relationship with Carter).
Comments from author:
Thank you so much. I can definitely say that this will not end the way it did in canon... that's for sure!

I could *see* that entire scene - and it was intense to watch. Viewing from Teal'c perspective really showed the underlying layers to the interactions. It certainly drew me in.

Wow. Thank you so much! I have to admit that I"m enjoying playing with Teal'c's POV. It's a new one for me.

Review:
This was an excellent characterization of Ellison; he really was a pain during that time frame. I think you also captured very well the perception that SG1 is capable of; when they are acting as a team as they did early on.
Comments from author:
Thank you much. I know I'm making him look like an ass, but that fourth season, he really does come off as a major pain in the ass.

Review:
This story is looking very interesting. I hope to see more. I am wondering when this is set, however, since there seem to be definite issues between Jim and Blair that were not common over the course of the television series.
Comments from author:
In season four there are a couple of episodes where the relationship is in tatters. This story is set during Murder 101, which is, imho, one of the worst asshole!Jim appearances.

Review:
Really good social interaction dynamics. I don't know the TS episode cases well enough to understand if you mean that Jim had recently been sick or Blair had recently been sick. Great stuff overall. Thanks for sharing.
Comments from author:
Thank you. The episode is Murder 101, and the stuff with Jim refusing to investigate the rape is straight out of canon. And Blair has recently been in the hospital after being drowned by Alex Barnes and then brought back to life.
