Love Dexter as the good, sane one, helping Martha transport orphans to Cuba (after all, Dexter DOES have a very effective personal code), while Horatio reveals himself to be the out-of-control nut-job I always suspected him to be!

I'm not surprised at Dexter still holding to his dad's teachings. Or that he helped Martha. The kids and Martha are innocents, so of course they would have nothing to fear from Dark Dexter. Even if he is pretty spooky.

You know, I can see Caine flipping out to this extreme with the collapse of civilization. He's just balanced enough barely by the support he gets from the existence of the world around him that he doesn't go nuts.
And Dexter... for a personal with no moral compass of his own, he holds rather tightly to the teachings that made him capable of becoming the person he is.
Nice touches on both. Looking forward to the next place Martha goes.

Hello irony. Then again, Dexter is a very 'sane' crazy person and I suppose that his version of nuts would insulate him against being driven off the deep end by what's going on around him. Like what you did with Caine, I think he's at least a third of the way there as it is.

Definitely - Caine is the reason I dislike CSI Miami. He's a judgemental bully, and I suspect capable of much worse.
