I'm so happy to see somebody doing something with the Knights -- I was most displeased with the way ME never followed up with them after Season 5 (but of course there is so much else about Season 6 which displeases that ignoring the possible continuing threat from the Knights gets overshadowed...) This storyline continues to develop in new and interesting ways, and I always enjoy reading the latest chapter. Oh, and kudos for Xander with a chainsaw! Wonderful image, and I'm thrilled to see somebody deal with that annoying portrait!

I had the same idea on how to remove Mrs. Black from the wall. I can't remember if I was thinking about chainsaw. I know I was thinking about removing the wall or a part of the wall. *grin*

Dawn did see the Thestrals. I just didn't show her reaction to seeing them. There were a couple of reasons for that. First of all, I couldn't find a place in that scene to drop in Dawn's reaction to the Thestrals that didn't break up the flow of the action. That whole scene was about hurrying Dawn from the train to a carriage, not stopping to take in the sights, and most of it concentrates on the diversion to allow Dawn to get to the carriage unnoticed. Second, Dawn really wouldn't have that much reaction to Thestrals. She wouldn't know that they'd be invisible if hadn't seen anyone die, and by that time she had seen lots of other strange creatures around Hogwarts. Hagrid may have even shown her the Thestrals already, so she wouldn't be surprised to see them at all.

I thought your fic was one of the best I've ever read but I have to ask one thing: why didn't Dawn notice the Thestrals? She saw Buffy jump off the tower in Season 5. She should be able to see them. Other than that, everything's good. Update soon.

Really good tale - I had a bit of a sleepless night and wound up reading all the way through to the G-S Quidditch match in one shot. Really liked how you've melded in the Buffy-lore into Hogwarts...
