Review of chapter "The Howling Dirge" from Freiheit
The story was great. I only know a bit of Magneto's history but i love how you go into his past and the reasons he did it. Always felt that he was giving the villain status when he only wanted to protect his people. Xander was a perfect fit. Always thought he needed more in the series. It will be one story that i will reread.

Great story you blended the two series perfectly in my opinion. also liked how you had glory come earlier in the time line. i always wondered why they never had two big bad at one time that were going after everyone

Review of chapter "The Howling Dirge" from Gideon
Fantastic story. The ending felt right, for the story and for the world they live in. I like your characterisation of Xander +added wisdom and pain. I guess the distance from his memories provided the opportunity to react differently than Magneto did. I hope Xander is able to continue in that vein.
A couple of misspellings etc in the middle of the story did distract me a little but that is the only reason I am not giving you a ten.
I like how you had a hint of stargate in there and then nothing more. Dare I hope that will be the sequel?
Keep up the great work. I look forward to reading it.

Review of chapter "The Howling Dirge" from DeacBlue
Not a horrible Super!Xander fic. But it suffers from faults endemic to the genre: Xander's always right, everyone else is always wrong, and it's all about Xander.
Not once in this novel-sized fic is Xander ever, ever wrong. And this takes place over years in Sunnydale. If Xander's right this often, he should be picking lottery numbers.
I don't remember seeing anywhere in this fic where anyone besides Xander came up with an idea that the gang used. Any ideas that came up were quickly shot down in favor of the new!improved!Xander!ideas. Each Scooby was taken out and carefully bashed, some more than others, then put back in place.
The fic was all about Xander. The girls were all talking about and drooling about Xander, no real other topic. Pretty much all they did was drool over him, and any impact that any of them made was minor compared to Super!Xander's amazing strategy, tactics, and powers. You had every female in the Scoobies, as well as the adult women, wanting to be Xander's girlfriend. Kinda wishful thinking.
The mechanics were acceptable, the premise was inspired, the characterizations and voicing were dreadful.
Edit per author's comment - Um, why would I read 90,000+ words, reading just what I wanted to see? And yes, the way you presented it, that's the effect that Xander had on women. Separately, you never had him make a mistake(or at least one that he acknowledged as one). The loss of friendship between he and Willow was painted as completely her fault, and none his, even though he supposedly knew that it would happen.
If that's not the way that you meant it, then perhaps you should check your communication skills. If it is, then my earlier comments stand.
Comments from author:
I like how you didn't actually read the fic, just what you wanted to see. Seriously, the adult women wanting to be Xander's girlfriend?
Xander made plenty of mistakes in there, had plenty of things go wrong and screwed up his oldest friendship along the way.
Thanks for the amused chuckle and snicker.
Now, shoo and go troll someone else.

I never got into B/X (numerous reasons, one being that Buffy never cast him a second glance in canon.) but you make it works smoothly. She always had a thing for older (Older!) 'men' anyway so not such a big surprise she falls for Xanmax.
Make Xander becoming wiser and a bit wistful without losing his good humor was a difficult challenge. Make him get the 'prize' without making him irresistible because of cool powers another one. Done. Kudos!
Nice and insightful portrayal of all the Scoobies.
A very entertaining read. Thanks.

Amazing story. I think I've read the first couple of chapters of this story before, but kept getting interrupted before I reached a point where I could review. You really had a lot happen here! The way you had the characters responding to each other and the stuff happening around them is incredible. Thank you for sharing!

Review of chapter "The Howling Dirge" from valdimarian
I loved this story, it was, and the sequel promisses to be, an increadible introspection on the idea. But something was bugging me about this story for a while, and until I thought about it for the CoA votes I couldn't put my finger on it. You skipped season 4 with the Initative. Normally that's not so big of a deal, granted I disliked the squishing of two seasons together, but seasons 3 and 5 work out pretty well when squished.
The part that was missing is that the Initiative would have been a HUGE thing for Xander with his Magneto memories. The idea of kidnapping someone, anyone, to experiment on them would probably ring alarm bells from SunyD to Tibbet! Seriously, at least three times in Magneto's history there's someone doing stuff like this: The Nazis (when he was just a boy) Weapon X / SHIELD / HAMMER, and then finally there was Genosha ( http://marvel.wikia.com/Genosha
) before he fixed it up.
Comments from author:
First off... The seasons weren't squished. I introduced Glory 2 years early to throw a monkey wrench into things.
Therefore, season 4 did not get skipped.
Glad you liked the story though.

I was very impressed. It's not often that you find a story like this where things escalate in a believable manner. Well played. If it wasn't for the tattoo, I would have been convinced Xander had only inherited memories from Magneto, so it made for an excellent finish.
I hope you go ahead with the sequel.
