Review of chapter "Sisters" from Greywizard
Review:
A very interesting chapter on many levels.

First off, once the Scoobies find out (and there is no way that I see them *not* figuring out the situation eventually), I cannot see Anya NOT trying to make amends/peace with Cordelia (and also offering possible vengeance to Buffy, and possibly even Joyce, too, to a lesser extent) by offering to put them in contact with one of her former associates for as little or as much vengeance as they might want as regards Hank and Cordy's mother and stepfather. ;-)

Second, Buffy should remember the 'civilian consultant' cover when Gibbs asks her for assistance with this new problem he's run into - as least as far as getting her plane fare out and back and her expenses while helping out taken care of. If she can also manage some additional coin to help with the college expenses, so much the better.

Like what you've showed us so far, and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review. There's no reason to keep the Scoobies out of the loop on this one. I don't see Buffy and Joyce going down the Vengeance Demon route (after all, the operative word is demons here - and these ones don't always care about collateral damage). Also, Cordy has made her feelings on Vengeance demons interfering in human affairs quite clear, though it is possible she'll be given the offer (Halfrek was the demon with particular responsibility for abused children - and maybe those adults who suffered as kids).

Exellent chapter. I figured it would have to be Hank. Man he is such a moron. Well at least Buffy will have back up to help with Dawn and the slaying.

Comments from author:
It was perhaps a little obvious, but I eventually decided to make Cordelia a half-Summers. The Cordy/Slayer/key/Joyce's illness family dynamic has too many possibilities to go with one of the other options. I seriously considered whether or not to make it Snyder, but then decided the little troll had to have been eaten without being laid even once. It just wasn't conceivable he'd jump into the sack with anyone who was even barely conscious.

Good chapter. I think that Hank needs his taxes audited.

If Buffy is Marsha, and Dawn is Cindy, then Cordy is Jan.

Coming up, Joyce meets a man with three boys....
Comments from author:
Thanks for this. Hank needs more than his taxes audited... As do Cordy's parents. I'm not really sure what to do about them now, actually. Creative ideas (not involving Vengeance Demons and vampires) anyone?

Review:
Generally I would say that your characterisation and so forth is spot on, but Buffy's Abba collection? Going from memory here but I think Abbas last single was in 1984 or there abouts when Buffy was like 3. So I reckon that Buffy's collection would be early to mid nineties bands, the older stuff she would listen would be from her parents collection.

Other than that it was a pretty good chapter, however, if Buffy is going to be poping about the country at the beck and call of Uncle Sam then they really need to rehabilitate Faith.
Comments from author:
My excuse for Buffy's Abba collection is that it's similar to her taste for cheesey ice-skating shows - something that might not be immediately associated with the character. She isn't going to be responding to every call - Sunnydale happened to be going through a quiet phase. As for Faith, I've ideas for her in the sequel, but she won't be part of this one. Thanks for the review.

Review:
More, more, more, please. This is such a *very* interesting series. Slayer, Slayer-Lite, and the Key. Boy, doesn't Joyce have an interesting houseful to ride herd on. Just a thought, but if you're planning to use the Glory story arc in some fashion, will you use the option of the availability of better medical care outside Sunnydale as a way to save her life? If nothing else, a call to Gen. Hammond and a sneak into the Mountain to Janet if caring for the Slayer's mother at the Air Force Academy Hospital (their non-classified medical alternative per the series) is an issue? Looking forward to seeing what happens next, and if Spike is going to be brought into the mix. He's one of the most complex characters in the whole series, and I like him. Even the faux pas in the bathroom where Buffy said no, and he almost didn't stop in time is fairly forgivable when you add in the fact that she'd been raping him ever since she was brought back--and at least once beat him to the point he nearly died and then she left him where the rising sun would kill him). There's a lot of human guys that *wouldn't* have stopped, but Spike did and went off to get his soul back. "No means No" should apply in *all* the permutations even if it's the guy says No, and the woman doesn't stop. I hope your muse and schedule will allow you to write and post more chapters sometime soon. Keep up the good work. Zafaran {mailto:} zafaran {at} fastmail {dot} fm
Comments from author:
You've given me a lot to think about here. Spike will be brought in at some point, but I'm not yet sure exactly how. You've brought in some of the season 6 issues here, which probably won't be touched on until the sequel to this story.
Thanks for the review.

Review:
Great chapter.

Cordy and Buffy as sisters was a great idea and the scenes with Hank (although difficult) were really nicely written.

I'm looking forward to finding out why Dawn is younger...
Comments from author:
Dawn is only a couple of years younger, but it makes the bratty attitude she showed in early Season 5 somewhat easier to sustain (as opposed to the somewhat different angsty teenager in Season 6). I always thought a 14-year-old Dawn was a little difficult to square with her attitude in S5 (even 12 might be pushing it).

Thanks for the review. The chapter wasn't exactly a bag of laughs compared to some of the others in the prequels, but the subject was too serious for levity.

Review:
Actually, in canon, both Buffy and Cordelia had birthdays in January. The Angel episode that featured Cordelia's birthday was originally aired on January 14. Episodes of Buffy's birthday were always shown around January 19th, plus she once told Riley she was Capricorn on the Cusp of Aquarius.

Though I give you cudos for making Buffy older than Cordy, five months seems a bit extreme for a difference.

Review:
Gotta admit I didn't see this coming, although I probably should have. I mean it explains so much about Cordy's being a Potential-Plus or Slayer-Lite, and how her powers have increased because of the time spent working with Buffy.
I liked how you gave Cordy the Silver Star and the Scoobies equivilent civilian awards and then justified getting them some money as 'special consultants'. Yeah, really, really special.
In the long term I can see Cordy working for SGC, but I can also see her working as a Presidential Special Assistant, looking for and dealing with vamp and demon outbreaks within the USA, that Buffy is too busy on the hellmouth to deal with.
Looking forward to the next update.

Thanks for the review. I'm still playing with the Slayer Lite concept - haven;t decided yet how (or if) it fits the shared parent thing. Thanks also for the ideas.

Review:
Great chapter, so much for making us think that Cordy was related the other Sunnydale denizens. You were about a subtle as a sledgehammer wielded by a Jaffa. Still great job, so Vampires in DC, of course I wouldn't tell Abby. Keep up the great job ~GraysonPaladin
Comments from author:
"As subtle as a sledgehammer wielded by a Jaffa" - I guess that about sums up my approach (hope you don;t mind if I use the line at some point, as I really think it fits quite a lot of people in the Buffy and SG universes). The main problem is going to be keeping Abby out of the loop... Thanks for the review.

I enjoyed the character dynamics and the plot twists of this chapter. Thanks for continuing.
Comments from author:
Thanks for this. Hope I didn't go overboard on the emotional content. There was very little humour in this chapter, but it just didn't sem to fit the topic.

Review:
okay you officially jumped the shark. with this awfully convenient Buffy and Cordelia are sisters thing
Comments from author:
Sorry you don't like the coincidence. I wasn't sure whether to go down the "related to" route at all - it often does seem very contrived - but this was one which hadn't (to the best of my knowledge) been done before and I eventually couldn't resist it. I'll do my best to get things back on track - thanks for the comment.

Oh man cliffies are evil. Well done by the way. So who is the daddy?

That would be telling! Next chapter ought to be out tomorrow. One or two clues - it isn't Giles or Jack O'Neill....

Hi:

Thanks for the reply. Reasons for Xanders popularity, He was the only underpowered one out of the Scoobies.

As for the soldier and hyena. I regarded them as skills lying underneath; akin to muscle memory. You might be out of practice, but can get up to speed faster than a complete novice.

Most likely not probable in this story, but I like Cordelia/Xander stories..:)

Regards,
Obi

Good Chapter.

Hank Summers as the sperm donor?

Looking forward to more and is Dawn in Sunnydale?

Will Xander also end up with the SGC. Hyena Primal Spirit and Soldier template after all.
Comments from author:
No Xander in the SGC, I'm afraid. And remember, by Season 4, he admitted that the soldier template had all but disappeared, while the Hyena Primal Spirit just seems to be something some fanfic writers have latched onto.

As for the rest? Hopefully all (or a little) will be revealed soon.

Oh evil cliffy! So many possibilities for Daddy Dearest, I hope you update quickly as I really want to know who he is. My reaction to Cordy's broom stick simile was much like Buffy's. “Eeeuuuhhhh!” Buffy grimaced at that imagery. Lol! The wording for Cordy's citation was very close to "official". Well done. The possibility of the Scoobies getting a monetary reward is also true to life. I was once on a team of four military and three civilians. We four got to go to a nasty place over the Christmas holiday and the civilians never left the DC area. They each got $3000 awards. We four military personnel got medals. So I can honestly say I've got a $3000 medal. Too bad it isn't really platinum. Lol! Boy, if you look up "bitch" in the dictionary you see a picture of Cordy's mom. I look forward to more and finding out who Cordy's daddy really is.
Comments from author:
I'll try to oblige with an update, but the evil cliffy is not my fault. Bad, bad plot bunnies...
