Review of chapter "Chapter Eight." from MarcusRowland
Review:
Uh-oh. Sounds like the Valar have plans for Dawn...
Comments from author:
Well it is most certain that they would want their Key back... but anything more major will have to wait until another story - this was meant to be light and fluffy!

Review:
Yay, updates!

You know, sometimes, Rumil annoys me. It feels to me like he often has less personality than the others, and is often talking down to Tindome, more like a parent than a lover. But then again, my fiance talks to me the same way sometimes, more like a teacher than an equal, but it usually pisses me off. I think that want bugs me about the relationship between Rumil and Tindome is that it doesn't feel like a marriage of equals, and I don't know if this is because of my own baggage, or if it's because of something else. Just something I've experienced while reading this series.

I hope for more chapters soon, I love this series!
Comments from author:
You know I think he has a distinct personality, although he is rather solemn and not given to talking much, but I think he has a dry sense of humour; and a very stern warrior-streak; such as his thoughts about Buffy et al in the previous chapter **if ever they tried such a thing again he would kill them. All of them. But not where Tindómë could see…**

Which does, certainly, fit in with your point that he tends to think that he knows best! Although, when Tindómë pointed out that he does **call me “little one” and go all adult on me** he has now started to do it almost as a joke between them - now he says it and waits, with a grin.

At the moment, though, I think you are right and it may not always be a marriage of equals - in elven terms she is still young, and the 'kidnapping' back to Sunnydale really has unsettled her - but there may come a time when she starts bossing him around instead!

I am really glad that you are enjoying the series, though, despite Rumil being a bit bossy at times.

It has just occurred to me that you might not have my reply to this review. I'm not sure whether, as TtH managed to post your review twice, the reply should have been attached to this copy or the other one. If you didn't get my reply, come back to the comments page and you'll see it attached to a second copy of your comment, if you see what I mean. Well, you will when you get here!

Review of chapter "Chapter Six." from starshinedown
Review:
I like this, learning what repercussions there are, emotionally, for Tindome after her time back in Sunnydale. My heart feels for her, and Rumil, to have her need to work back through some of "belonging" issues. Sigh.
Comments from author:
She'll be all right in the end - this was meant, originally, to be a happy Christmas tale... But the 'belonging issues' just crept up - it has almost become a theme, (just as the theme of Brotherhood was... brotherhood) Orophin wonders about belonging with Lithoniel, Rumil considering that he doesn't belong in Lorien any more, as well as her own issues.

Review:
Hehe. I am glad for more.

I can understand why Rumil still hates Buffy and the others, but at the same time, her four months in Sunnydale gave her the chance to say goodbye to her other life, and have complete closure. Had she not seen them again, she may have always wondered "what if?" in the back of her mind.

I like this story, and look forward to more.
Comments from author:
I was happy to get back to it - although if I don't hurry it'll be spring before I reach mid-winter!

Rumil doesn't exactly hate Buffy and the others but they aren't his favourite people...

But I think that you are absolutely right - it has given Dawn closure - it will just take her a little while to be completely settled again, I think.

Review of chapter "Chapter Five." from (Past Donor)Joyful
Review:
I really am enjoying this story, but now that Brotherhood is finished I'd like to hear more Tindome stories. I want to know about Ithilienne, and I want to see Haldirin when he's older, and I totally want to see more of Eowyn. I hope those are some of the stories you hope to write. :D
Comments from author:
I am coming back to finish this - and there are a whole lot of places on the time-line in that epilogue to Return of The Key where there are stories to be written; Ithilienne has a story of her own, we will see the adult Haldirin, and the 'returned' Haldir when the family accompany Legolas to Valinor. Odd people or things will crop up from the existing stories as well - just as we saw Álith in this one.

Might take me a few years to write them all...!

Review:
Another lovely chapter. Seemed right for Legolas to prefer the memory of Lothlorien than to see what it had become.

Rumil is a closet romantic- sigh, that was a cute scene.

And having her son say good-bye to the tress was also freaking adorable. Great job!
Comments from author:
Thank you - Rumil has always been a closet romantic, of course - but he just prefers people to see the stony-faced warrior... although anyone from Sunnydale would be surprised that he is a closet romantic!

Review:
This is a fantastic chapter. I loved the two very different ways of saying good bye to the forest. Haldirin hugging the trees was a lovely image.
Comments from author:
Thank you - it seemed right to me that he would feel some affinity with the trees of the Golden Wood and it is lovely to know that it seems right to other people as well.

There will be a slight pause as I am currently writing the next chapter of Brotherhood so that it gets closer to its conclusion!

Review:
What a wonderful way for them to say goodbye to the Golden Wood.

The closing scene of Haldirin and the Mallorn made me tear up. It was a poignant moment.
Comments from author:
Thank you - that scene just sort of wrote itself - I am so pleased that it worked for you.

Review:
Lovely chapter!

I'm so happy that Orophin has a special lady :)

And I liked Dawn & Rumil's conversation, especially:
“Little one.”

Uh-huh, Rumil only ever called her that when he thought she had been acting like an elfling – when he thought she’d missed something important.

-Its nice to see that things aren't always perfect and that her human tendencies, 20 years later, still can come out. You are absolutly right in how that scene could have gone wit humans and I liked how you distinguished the two.

Also good: Reflecting on how her and Legolas must watch their mortal friends age.. Sad though :(
Comments from author:
Thank you - I felt Orophin deserved a love of his own! And yes - the others (Legolas, Orophin, Galanthir even, and, when around, the twins, of course) all see her, still, as 'little one' - she is the youngest apart from the elflings; Rumil only says it when he is about to gently explain something...
