Review of chapter "Colliding Worlds" from banner
This is an interesting idea. There are so many possibilities. I can't wait for more.

Skip this if you don't like reader suggestions, ok? No insult is intended.

One of Xander's leading characteristics is his ability to make friends. He brings out the best in people. Most of all, he's strongly inclined to be an integral part, the heart, of a group.

I wouldn't mind seeing how Xander and Sheppard actually met - did Xander's instincts simply lead him to his Guide, or were they chance-met? And how long has John been on Earth? It would be an interesting twist if Xander's senses hadn't started to actually spike until his Guide was accessible to give support. Or if they started spinning out of control when his prospective Guide moved completely out of reach to Atlantis.

The spirit guides were major influences later in the series. Xander's might well be a hyena.

One of Jim's least attractive characteristics was the way he fought tooth and nail against the senses and the accompanying mystical aspects and primitive behaviors. He resented his abilities throughout the series, long after he was forced to acknowledge their usefulness. I hated the abuse he often heaped on Blair for not being able to make Ellison normal. Xander is far more adaptable and much more respectful of academicians and mystics.

If Sentinel senses are a naturally evolved aspect of the human genome, then it is undoubtedly distributed wherever homo sapiens sapiens has spread. Teyla and Ronan might have some relevant information if so. If the Sentinel is the result of a spell, like the original Slayer creation and like Willow's universal activation spell, then it might not have made it off the planet. RA was kicked out and the 'Gate buried some 5k years ago. The slayer spell was much older - the Slayer was the only reason humanity managed to survive long enough to develop a civilization. Building pyramids, for example.

Once the Goa'uld and Jaffa were gone, along with their weapons and rapid transportation, then another defense against the ongoing threats to humanity needed to be developed. A spell to make watchmen seems like a reasonable possibility. Although I'd be surprised if the need for the Guide was foreseen at the time.

If any of these ideas inspire you, please use them!

I just found these stories, and I really like where you're going with it. I look forward to seeing how Xander likes Atlantis, and also how Atlantis likes Xander.

Also, how this will change the dynamics of the team.

I've read stories with Xander as a Guide, but I think this is my first with him as the Sentinel. I really like Star-Gate Atlantis and John is probably my favorite character from that show, but he certainly isn't an obvious choice as a Guide -- should be interesting to see how it will work with Xander always wanting to protect him, yet needing to follow him as team leader -- I think you have your work cut out for you to make this believable. Should be really interesting to see how the Atlantis people take to Xander -- it is obvious that McKay will be having some problems -- may be that he is feeling a bit jealous -- they always implied that John may have been the only good friend Dr. McKay ever had -- I would think he would be threatened by that.

Can't wait to see how Xander will react to being in another galaxy/ on other worlds / meeting aliens -- good and bad. I am glad you are not glossing over everything that Xander has been through in Sunnydale and since -- it only makes sense that he would be suffering PTSD -- I am glad he will be getting help. I think it would be really cool if Graham went to Atlantis too -- I think it would be good for Xander to have someone who knows what he experienced back on earth -- it might give someone who would be able to explain things without Xander always having to tell stories himself.

Hope you continue soon -- really interested to see where you take this

I'm enjoying the world you're setting up here and can't wait to see either how Xander is in Pegasus or John is at handling demons.

Thank you for an enjoyable story!

Great writing but I would have expected more noise from Carter and especially McKay.
Comments from author:
Believe it or not, I am conscious of that. It's just that there are so many voices already there at the moment, I couldn't write for them, too. Can't wait to pare things down.

I like this so far! It was another good glimpse into the reactions of the Atlantis group. I liked that SG-1 was there, too, hope to see more of them. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of Atlantis acts when Xander recovers and starts having to have such a physical connection with John. Speaking of Atlantis, what season do you have this roughly placed? I took it to be before Weir's death, since Sam seemed to be an active member of SG-1 still, but who knows. Looking forward to your next update.

I liked that 'stay in the truck' comment by Blair, Jonhn saying it's not going to happen, and Xander pretty much saying we'll see! It's strikes me as funny because I can picture that in my head. Shepard trying to lead a mission, and Xander stepping in front of him, and then Sheppard stepping in front of Xander...kind of a 'hey hey we're the Monkees' (old tv show) thing. HAHAHA! I thought that was an interesting point that Giles made. Xander always considered himself as average and definitely weaker than the girls, but the fact is that Xander fights things that are WAY STRONGER than him. So he should do well with hand to hand as well as weapons fighting. I can't wait to see what he'll be like in Atlantis.
