Review of chapter "Chapter One" from indis
Review:
A sequel?! Bless your lovely husband for re-lighting the fanfic fires :)

That was a very sombre start which I think may set the tone for the whole story, like some others here I think I might know where you're going with it.

Getting Buffy & Legolas together "off screen" could have been jarring, but using Buffy's memories of their courtship to inform the reader was lovely. I'd love some more if you could get the pair of them to reminisce :D

Great start, I'll be eagerly awaiting more!
Comments from author:
*grins* It'll be interesting to see how many minds work like my own, and how many of you anticipate the direction in which this story will take. Even so, I hope the story will entertain!

And I'm glad you enjoyed the reminiscence. I'm sure I'll find a way to work in a few more throughout the story. :)

Thank you for the thoughtful review!

The lesson of the Halls is this: For the endless, an ending must be created. If not death, then parting, so a new life begins.

I truly think that Buffy, gifted as she is, will be invited to journey with Legolas. Death is her gift. But Death may be taken in the Tarot interpretation; change, departure, an end to what came before.

Happy Endings? They don't exist. We make footnotes, decide long after where the lines of change lay. If you read a tale, the "end" is just where the author feels his or point is made and stops writing.

To borrow from a tale:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adrian: Jon, wait, before you leave... I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end.
Jon: *Smiling wistfully* "In the end?" *gesturing* ~Nothing~ ends, Adrian. Nothing ~ever~ ends. *removing himself*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That was Dr. Manhattan's final words on the world of his birth, spoken to the man called Ozymandias.

The point is clear. Nothing ever ends. And one way or another, we all part.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play with my cat and cherish the time we have. You see, the thing about bittersweet is this--it's at least halfway sweet.

Peace out.

YES!! I could kiss your husband...but I'll have you do it for me. This is what I've been waiting for and you delivered beautifully. I'm so excited to see where you will take us on our next quest with Buffy and Legolas. You have a rare ability to let your readers view your vision of Middle-earth and its characters through your eyes, via the written word.

I look forward to the next chapters to see where this fic will go.

btw you have made a lot of people happy today. :)

And let me assure you that so many of you have made me so happy these past few days with your wonderful and kind reviews! I'm so happy that everyone is so excited to see even this little tease of the sequel. Here's to hoping that the interest remains - and THANK YOU! :)

OMG!!! You're making a sequel!!!...err you're starting it!! I can't wait! Equinoxium was a wonderful story and the ending was fitting, but lacking in closure (in my opinion). Thank you for picking up your figurative pen and continuing your story. ^_^
Comments from author:
LOL - Yes, I'm starting/working on the sequel now, and I'm happy that I'll now have the opportunity to put a little more closure on a story that was so consuming for me. Thank you for the review! :)

SOOOO excited that you are going back to this world!!! When I began reading it.. I laughed that you incorporated the 2 worlds together so well... lembas and KFC? hahaha... But then Buffy is on the outside looking in and then is unable to join... SO heart breaking... No happy endings? I was a bit worried about who the elf was but was very happy to find out it was Legolas! But she is slowly losing him! What or who will hold Buffy to this world when he leaves?! Can't wait to see the next chapter!
Comments from author:
*grins* Thanks so much for the review! Your excitement is a nice incentive, and I"m glad that you're enjoying the Buffy/Legolas pairing. Thanks again, and happy reading! :)

Review:
Lisette, thank you for continuing Buffy's adventures in MIddle Earth. I have long enjoyed your stories, starting with Twist of Fate. But of all of your most excellent stories, to me, Equinoxium stands above the rest. It is a story of tragedy and sacrifice as good as the original LoTR novels. Every character is written true to themselves with nary a mary sue in sight. The story is wonderful and gripping and I have loved it for a long time. Well enough to save it in my favorite font, pdf'd and ready to be read again and again (I am up to 8 times now).

And now you are writing a sequel. I have absolutely no doubt that it will rival or even exceed the original, again having read your Twist of Fate Series. I truly enjoyed chapter 1 of The Fading. It set up a great beginning for the story. I can see tragedy unfolding as the relationship between Buffy and Legolas is strained by his need to leave for Valinor. I don't know if Buffy would be welcomed in the Undying Lands, but hopefully, just as certain Hobbits made the trip, so can Buffy so as not to be separated from her love.

Congratulations on getting married and returning to writing. The genre has missed you and I would like to welcome you back with open arms. I look forward to reading the next words that flow from your pen (or word processor) as Buffy's adventures continue.
Comments from author:
Your reviews are equally as captivating and well-written as your stories themselves (loving Life's Ending, Life's Beginning), and I thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and flattering review. I know how it feels to read a story that sticks with you to the point that you want it easily accessible, and it's humbling to learn that for some, Equinoxium became just that kind of story. I can only hope that E2 lives up to its predecessor.

THANK YOU - your review is so very much appreciated and just the little nudge I needed this morning to get back to work. :)

Wow, when the information popped up in my email that there was a sequel for Equinoxium my eyes almost fell out of my head. Equinoxium is one of the rare stories I do have a look at once in a while to read through repeatedly. Though the last time I read is at least two years ago I look forward to see where you're leading us with this new development. Call me inspired.
Comments from author:
Thank you! I'm so glad that Equinoxium keeps you coming back, and I hope that someday, the sequel will also make that list for you. Thanks again! :)

Review of chapter "Chapter One" from Tweeky
Review:
It's good to see you've finally posted a sequel to your excellent fic "Equinoxium" but I have to say the opening chapter was a bit of downer with Buffy being around and so many of her friends dead from old-age. Now I don't know what you've planned for chapter 2 but if I might be so bold, have Buffy appealing to the Vala (Manwe specifically) to grant an exemption to Aragorn and allow him to pass into the west just like Tuor did with Idril in the first-age; also have his offspring and others closely related (either through kinship or marriage) given the full 400-years life-expectancy of the house of Elros.

Also did you use my suggestion of having the Vala allow the various Elves of the first age (like Finarfin, Fingon, Turgon and so on) to temporarily return to Middle-Earth to aid Buffy in hunting the Mornedhil? I Also suggest that you have Buffy (via Manwe) beg Iluvatar to have on a temporary basis (mortal-wise) returned to Middle-Earth the likes of the Edain to aid Aragorn such as Baramir (and Luthien), Borohir, Huor, Hurin, Tuor, Turin, Tar Palantir and so on.
Comments from author:
Your suggestions are interesting, however the story is already plotted - and I've done my best to adhere, or at least, not interfere with LoTR canon as much as possible, which includes any and all magical last-minute saves of Aragorn, Arwen, or changes to their fates. Nope - I'm afraid what's done is done in this case. Besides, this story isn't about Aragorn, Arwen, or their off-spring, but rather about Buffy and her continued adventures in this world - adventures that don't include first-age elves or a hunt for the Mornedhil, as they have all been destroyed. I hate to say it, but Middle-earth is severely lacking in the Big Bad department.

And did you read this story's predecessor? If so, I think you'll find that this first chapter wasn't nearly the downer as the majority of the previous story. ;p In any case, thank you for the review and happy reading!

Review:
OMG ... OMG O_O

When I received the mail, telling me that you were back, I actually screamed. I was so happy. Finally, a new story and not any story: but the following one of Equinoxium. Sadly, it was past midnight for me (Damn French me ^^) and as I had to work today, I went to bed.

However, here I am, at work, and reading this chapter. Only one and I almost cried. It's the damn first!! All this angst, all this sadness... I love your work, I love how you write, how you describe everything in a so beautiful way. Everytime, I forget everything and I completely lose myself in your story and everytime, it moves me so much. That's why I love your fics so much and I swear the day you decide to write a book, I'll buy it without an hesitation.

I always had a hard time with LoR stories that occurred after the Return of King because of the deaths part. It's exactly the same hard time I had here. My heart broke for Buffy and Legolas as I read how they watched their friends, their worlds, died around them. They lost so much, and they will keep losing because it's the price to pay when you receive so much and time doesn't alter you. The way you describe it is heartbreaking.

I hope there will be fast updates because now, this story is going to be my new obsession. I just don't know how it couldn't be.

Thank you so much for being back (and thank you to that new husband of yours to help you coming back).

Take care and update soon pretty please ^_^
Comments from author:
*grins* What a great review! Thank you so much for the kind words, mon ami, and I'm so glad that you enjoyed the first chapter. Though you're right - post-Return of the King stories are very difficult because the death, even happy-die-in-your-sleep death is soon to follow and completely unavoidable. For everyone but Legolas, and now Buffy. The good news is that this story won't be a story all about death and sadness. I promise that there will be happiness, joy, and even fluff on occasion. At least - that's what I'm aiming for. You'll just have to let me know how I do on the follow-thru of that promise. :)

Thanks again!

You're back!

I have to say that I always have mixed feelings about your work. On one hand, they are always well-written, engrossing, epic, and just darned wonderful to read and follow, and on the other hand, I always feel depressed reading your stuff because of all the pain and angst you put Buffy through. Looks like it's going to be the same old, same old, judging by your first chapter. There are certainly hints there as to the direction you're going to take. And is poor Legolas the only remaining elf in the land?
Comments from author:
You know, I can really see how depressed you can get after reading one of my epics. In the past I always did seem to revel in breaking Buffy in the best (or worst) of ways, but I always aimed to put her back together again when I was done. Even though this story is starting in a very sad place, I'm actually hoping that it will serve more as a continued effort to put Buffy back together. Yes, there will be sadness and angst, but overall, I'm aiming towards a much lighter piece - it's just that for the direction I'm heading, this was the place where I just had to start. Sorry!

And to answer your question, yes, Legolas is indeed the last elf left in Middle-earth. Very sad day, indeed!
