I know that the Mayor was weird even for a SunnyDale bad guy. He was way to freakin' happy! On the show, he genuinely seemed to care about Faith. He was a sort of father figure to her. According to this story, Faith was just a tool to be used. The Mayor didn't care if he caught Buffy or Faith in his spell. So, Why would the Mayor be so 'nice' as to absolve Faith from guilt, let Xander know about his baby, and give him property and money? I find this confusing. Shouldn't the man have tried to curse Xander or something?

Not enough buildup and too many instant crossovers. Spend more time building some tension and explaining what's going on and don't just drop everything in at once, release little hints and slowly add then in.
