Review of chapter "Reality" from Greywizard
Review:
I was somewhat ambivalent about this story, given the circumstances under which Buffy returned to the family she'd abandoned, but this last chapter puts a completely different spin on everything!!!

While this would not be completely in character for Xander we saw at the end of the series (but also not completely out of character, either), I can see him easily developing into this version you showed us as a reaction to the hurt and pain Buffy inflicted on himself and, more particularly, their daughter.

Well done.

I like the new stuff.
Good, dark twist at the end there.
Dad-daughter bonding.

-[ I had read the FF.Net copy a long time ago, so I didn't mind reading this story again. Things were going so-so, but then you pull this surprise at the end. The epilogue with its gothic reinterpretation of the previous chapters was quite enjoyable. The execution wasn't perfect, but the idea has a lot going for it.

Speaking of adding new things to what you have previously written on FF.Net, are you ever going to finish your rewrite of "The Call"?]-

Review of chapter "Reality" from Kovac
Review:
Buffy behaving for years like she did in your story fits with what we know about her in canon which is always a must in my books. B/X would never work for long as a couple IMO. Normal Xander was always far too sweet to catch her interest. Buffy likes her puppies with big fangs.

Such a terrible disappointment for Xander. Get at last the girl he always fancied and realize Buffy doesn't think he's worth being faithful to. Hurts.

Buffy tries to make amends when she knows she's close to death but it's not because you're 'sorry' (Is she or is it just a way to ease her conscience before dying?) that the bad you did is erased. So, mean-y, grudg-y me, likes the twist at the end. Whether good old Xander would seek such a cruel revenge is discutable but the hardened, scorned man and betrayed father he became in that world would probably do it.

I really enjoyed the ride. Nice job.

Review of chapter "Reality" from Runewolf
Review:
I have mixed feelings about the last chapter.

Without it, the story is a touching, sweet tale of forgiveness.

With it, the interactions between Buffy, Xander, and Joy are much darker. I'm really not sure. The last chapter IS well written, and the logic of it is sound. And I can see both characters wanting that revenge. But it seems rather dark, especially as you'd made Buffy's actions seem in character, and very tragic. She hurt them, but it wasn't out of spite.

My question would be whether you planned it that way from the beginning, or if it was an addition?
Comments from author:
The last chapter was an addition. I wrote and published the original over on FF.net but always thought it needed a kicker at the end. I came up with this idea and wrote the last chapter over a year later. I only had to change about three lines of dialogue and exposition in the original to make it work. Thanks for asking and thanks for the review.

I wonder what Buffy's reaction will be in the afterlife when she discovers what was done to her.

***zing** there goes that sharp left turn! Damn that was a sneaky twist; and yet I don't think it was really all that out of character either. We know Xander has a ruthless streak in him; and he did date Anya for how long? If anyone would know about enacting vengeance I'm sure he learned a great deal from her stories.

Review of chapter "Requiem" from Xovervore
Review:
Just found this story. It is well-written, sad but true to life. I do have a question - in chapter 6 Xander told Buffy that he was sorry and explained why. Buffy believed him; I as a reader believed him (& also think that both Xander and the scoobies could probably have done more to help Buffy). But, in chapter 7 in his discussion with Giles I gained the impression that he had simply been playing her. Now I may be reading into their talk something that isn't there. Could you clarify this please?

I will leave the final chapter to answer this.

Review of chapter "Requiem" from lwbush
Review:
A tragedy of realistic proportions. Broken lives and marriages often breed the same in the next generation. Hopefully Joyce now has had the chance to learn one important lesson from her mother before her death, and will not perpetuate the cycle. A bitterweet but still somewhat hopeful ending.

True, but it isn't over yet.
