I agree with many that it is very hard to like Buffy in this story, but I sense that you are writing her sympathetically in spite of the revelations of her actions, so I look forward to the underlying story she shares with Joyce. I have never hated the character of Buffy, although I find many of her choices deeply flawed. I have a feeling this may be what has driven her here as well. I hope you can redeem her, especially in the eyes of those who once loved her and probably still do in spite of themselves, Xander and Joyce.
I really like your writing, but got to say I hate this story. It seems to me a slap in the face of Xander. I mean Buffy was running around with god knows how many men. while he was taking care of their child. He was building a life. and now that she is dying. she comes back to him for him to take care of her. Come on? If she hadnt gotten sick would she have had came back? No she would just keep jumping from bed to bed till she was to old and THEN she would have looked up the husband and kid to take care of her. just like she is doing right now. God I wish he would have just let her go. she dug her lonely grave. she needs to lie in it.

I agree that the story seems that way so far, however, there is much more to come.

After the pain and misery Buffy has obviously put Xander and /his/ daughter Joyce through, I really wish you had had Xander escort the bimbo to the airport, make sure she boarded the plane, then return to his home and start the painful process of telling Joyce the her long-gone biological mother was dieing. It would have been better for both Xander and Joyce in the long run, and far more than that necrophiliac egomaniac deserved. It would also have been in keeping with Xander's personality, as Buffy damaged /his/ family, /his/ friends - there is /no/ redemption for Buffy's multiple, almost carefully thought out betrayals. But, I guess she, at least, gets to have some sort of happy ending, while Xander and Joyce get to have even more pain thanks to her and her actions. So she also gets a free pass of sorts for her life, where her reluctant heroics are considered more important than the near-constant screw-ups, betrayals, assisted murders (Angelus, remember him?), desertions, and all the rest of Buffy's so-/stellar/ life. The fact that every one around Xander have attempted to keep him away from where she might have the slightest possibility of showing up at seem to be tacit support of him and condemnation of both her and her actions.

This fic is not easy on Buffy by any means, so no free passes. I beleive you will like what is said a couple of chapters down the line. Anyway, thanks for the review, and I hope you follow the rest of the story.
