Review of chapter "A Demon and a Pagan God Walk Into a Church…" from Aryll
Review:
Yeah, haggis is good. Don't let the false rumors put you off! Haters just haven't tried it. Plus if its a Scottish festival they bring it in on a giant platter lead in by bag pipes :D

Gabriel and Anyanka had me in stitches. There is something just weirdly right about them. If they did actually ever co-exist in a fandom they would be doing it like bun---er, something to that effect. I like that Lenore could see his aura. Very interesting. I'm really looking forward to seeing how her vampirism is gonna play out. You always pull out some great twists.

Random extra: I can't hear (read) 'nom nom nom' without thinking of this-- http://www.fmylife.com/intimacy/13481200

Please update soon! This my new Gabe fix *dreamy eyes*
Comments from author:
Ooh, I wish I could find a Scottish festival! Hmm, we have Irish ones nearby and they placate the Scots by having bag pipe-offs. (mmm, kilts...well 'cept most of the men are not attractive, le sigh).

Gabriel/Anya pairing were not something that I had planned but it fit really well. Now I'm compelled to think of a story involving just them...lol.

Tara was great at aura reading (she knew that Buffy was not in her body when Faith took over) and since this is her reincarnated, I gave her a more powerful talent at aura reading.

*grr* That link keeps freezing on me; I'll have to check it out later.

And yay for this being your Gabe fix! lol. You will really like the next chapter ;) I don't plan on ever using him but he just keeps slipping in there because he is quite fascinating. *le sigh*

Thanks for reading!

EDIT: LOL okay it worked now (I have a bad connection) and...omg! hahahahahahahahahaa!

As horrific as I expected and hopelessness in reaction I didn't expect Anyanka and... Loki? Her merchandising philosophy in early development stages of presentation is hilarious. And chilling. The badness hasn't stopped coming yet I bet.
Comments from author:
I'm happy that you liked it - comedy and horror make for a fun combo :)

And I pretty much love Anya as a secondary character - she makes everything so much more fun!

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Review:
Nice dancing around the the "Loki" issue and his alarm at almost being found out. Is this a weird way of explaining why future-Tara stutters? Remnants of this spell? That'd be kind of neat.
ok, their innocence has been proven, though my guess is the toll of victims is higher than they realize--Lenore's father for one, for instance....
Nice to see L. using some future-knowledge to avoid huge problems...
Comments from author:
Haha, that *would* be a nice way of explaining future stutters, except I already illustrated that Lenore does that when she's nervous (which was leftover from her past life). Darn!

Well, Anya actually stated when she returned to the cellar exactly who had died. In SPN Loki always gave people their just deserts but he never killed people who didn't really deserve it.

And yes, yay for future knowledge :)

Thanks for reviewing!

Review:
That was interesting - I see that you're rather fond of Loki as a plot character, but he is charming (that's his mojo, really). That was a very enjoyable chapter too, kudos!
Comments from author:
Gasp, you've discovered my secret!

Yes, at this point in my writing I like to insert Loki whenever possible haha. (when it comes to reading fics, it is incredibly hard to find any good non-slash ones with him in it). Not to mention, the idea of him being Anyanka's paramour was greatly amusing to me :)

Basically when it comes to spn characters the trickster and Crowley are my current favorites - I think I tend to like charming assholes (meaning that Dean, of course, is my third favorite character, lol).

Glad you enjoyed this chapter, thanks for reviewing :D

Review:
Chapter 2 only. I read it with trepidation. I'm not ready for Lenore to suffer pain and horror, but then who is? Great read.
Comments from author:
True, pain and horror are not okay, but it'll get better in a very fun way :)

Thanks for reading!

Oh dear, things are turning rather bad. Still, it's interesting to see Tara (well, her incarnation) develop a backbone once again, and I seriously hope that things will turn out better in the future chapter.
Comments from author:
Thanks for reading :) Yes, it is looking bad, but the badness will allow me quite a bit of fun in resolving it *mwahaha*

Thanks!

Review:
I stopped watching SN about mid-season three because I found it to be getting annoying for some reason I can't remember right now, and never got back into it, so I have no idea who these characters you're describing might be paralleling in the current seasons, but i want to say that you've made the various characters you presented us quite vivid and life-like.

I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing Connor get his ass stomped into the ground, since I despise people like him immensely.

Regardless of whether I can match these characters up with the current SN characters, I'm enjoying this story a lot, and am looking forward to seeing more of it.

Excellent work.
Comments from author:
Maybe in S3 it was because Dean was dumb enough to sell his soul and they were working with the demon Ruby? Honestly, I love every episode now but I got S1 as a gift last year and never watched it because I wasn't very interested. When TNT started showing repeats I wasn't really into S2 or S3. But S4 and S5, with the angel mythology and the fact that everything since S1 was coming to a close, was fascinating and pulled me in. At that point I began watching the other eps and enjoyed them. It probably also helped that S4 & S5 have a great cast of secondary characters unlike the previous seasons.

(lol so that was my mini-commercial to get you to give them a second chance ;)

Yes, witchhunt/power-hungry cretins are not my fav either. However, I have a special tricky plan for him *grins*

Whew, I'm glad that you are still enjoying this story even if you are unfamiliar with with spn - sometimes I forget that not everyone knows all the shows that I am writing about and I was hoping that the story is still fun regardless.

Thanks for reading!!

Review:
So it is Crowley! I kind of thought it was but I wasn't sure, I'm not caught up on season six, but I knew he had a son he hated, but I had no idea if he had a different name while he was alive.

Woo thanks for the links! You're the best :D I'm currently in the middle of nowhere for the next month with only shitty rogers stick internet and I'm making do by watching changing channels and hammer of the gods over and over and over... I totally agree with you, Gabriel's the only who makes me go into fangirl spaz. I kinda feel that way about most slash in that fandom (or in general) I enjoy reading gay pairings/characters that are canon, but I really don't think Gabriel is secreting lusting after Sam's cookies.

SO maybe I should come out of my archangel fangirling to say how much I love this chapter. I haven't really read many Tara-centric fics although I really like her character and I'm finding your spin on her very refreshing. But I kinda want to beat her husband with a rusty shovel.

PS. Haggis is yummy
Comments from author:
Oops, next chapter he's in I'll add to the disclaimer that it helps to know S6 - I forgot that bit about him got revealed in the most recent season. Yes, they did find out his human name and that's the one that I'm using now. I thought that worked out well since Tara's last name was Maclay, which is Gaelic like McLeod. That gave me the idea of making them siblings.

Ouch. The middle of nowhere is not a nice place to be, lol, I grew up there. However, S5 Gabriel is a nice thing to be able to watch! I just bought S2 and ordered S3,4,5 on amazon - I *so* can't wait to watch those S5 eps again :)

And yes, I totally agree. gay pairings when the character is gay (or even is vaguely ambiguous and they're paired with someone that makes sense) is okay and makes sense. But Gabriel/Sam? lol no. It's almost as bad as Xander/Spike, haha.

I'm glad that you like this spin on Tara. Since I've never written a Tara fic before and this reincarnation storyline is also new to me, I am definitely caring about feedback for this story.

I've never had haggis...I'll have to try it sometime. I do love Shepherd's Pie though *nom*nom*nom :)

Thanks!

Oh! What an intense chapter ending!! That evil jerk O'Neil!

And, yes, the image of Crowley playing with children is just awesome, haha.

Congrats on completing NaNo--just completed it myself yesterday. Thanks for the quick update. This story is fun, and I'm happy you're enjoying writing it.

Keep up the great work!
Comments from author:
Yeah, whenever I read historical fiction or history books I would always get angry by the men of the medieval age when it came to the witch hunts. Thus, O'Neil was born of that composite of readings.

I do that that spn!Crowley would probably do well with children, although only with the desire to make them evil, haha.

Congrats on your completion! That's awesome :D

Yes, this is one of those stories that just seems to be writing itself...I have a horribly bad trait of impatience = quick writing because I'm eager to get to certain parts that I have planned out. Which, I spose, works out nicely for the readers, lol :)

Thanks!

Ooh this is really interesting! Amber Benson did a terrific job in that episode and I love the idea of crossing it over. I was trying to figure out who the season 5 character is, but no dice so far. I love the Tarot card reading, your interpretation was really well done. I have that same deck somewhere from back in high school, but I never could get a knack for it without a book to help read them. The foreshadowing gave a nice glimpse at where the story may be going :)

And (excuse me while I spaz here) omgI'msoinsanelyhappyGabrielwillbeinthisficyouhavenoidea! I love that guy and I can find barely any fics with him :( I wish they would bring him back but I kind of don't see it happening *sigh*

Anyway, spaz complete! Good beginning, can't wait to see where it goes.
Comments from author:
Hey, thanks for reviewing Aryll :)

I'm no expert in Tarot but I bought a deck last month and enjoy learning - there's so much symbolism in each card and I find it fascinating.

ahahahahahhaa I love your spazzing!! When it comes to SPN I have to say that the only character that gets me all fangirlish is Gabriel - he's just *amazing* Dunno if you're on livejournal but there *is* a community dedicated to Gabriel fics! It is: http://community.livejournal.com/spn_gabriel/ and I've found a couple gems on there, but not too many because most of it is slash and I just don't see that character in that light.

OH! And ACTUALLY there is a rumor that he will make some sort of appearance this season. I saw it on the actor's facebook page while I was actually researching that rumor, lol. It is here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Richard-Speight-Jr/82564029662

*looks away guiltily* Wow, that was a lot of fangirl moments in one review....eeep, no more caffeine for me! ;)

Thanks for reviewing.

EDIT: I just realized that I forgot to answer your question. The S5 character has already appeared but is not using their commonly used name from the show...

Review:
Yeah, there was a real anti-witch craze around that period. King James Bible was written with an eye to that, with many mis-translations designed to further it... etc.
Have to admit, not seeing how this gets her to "kind of a vamp"-ness....unless she in anger calls on Crowley or some such? Or Anyanka? Or more likely, Fergus, come to think of it. ie to "help" her.
And yes, Crowley playing with the kiddies is a weird image. The actor is great though, isn't he?
Comments from author:
Ooh, hey now - I didn't know that factoid about the King James Bible. Very interesting. Theology is a topic that greatly intruiges me and I love reading about purposeful mis-translations and such.

I'll be honest - the vampage will occur because of a significant plot point that has yet to arise. It won't be occuring within the next couple chapters; I can say that at least. That said, once it does happen 'lil 'ol Lenore will be doing quite a bit of travelling...

Yes, I adore Mark Shepperd. Actors who excel at playing charming evil bastards are always a favorite of mine. After all, if you're going to be evil you may as well enjoy it! ;)

Thanks!

Ah, a fellow nano-er! I hope you had a great November. I don't know what your original project was, but I'm loving this second one! Ever since the episode with Lenore, I've been hoping to stumble upon one that worked in Tara in a really interesting way. And yours is definitely interesting. Plus it has the added bonus of Crowley! Woohoo! Keep up the fantastic work. I can't wait to read more.
Comments from author:
Oh, greetings fellow nano-er!! I actually just finished my 50k at 5am this morning (er, when the Muse hits and one desperately needs the word count to go up, one will write at odd hours ;). I hope your November is going well!

When I first saw the ep I didn't give it much thought but I rewatched it over the weekend (SPN S2 was *only* $12 on Black Friday *grins*) and couldn't get all the possibilities out of my head.

Yes, there is a great need of more Crowley fics in the world! And more Gabriel (somehow he snuck into the currently-being written chapter 4...that sneaky trickster). Although human!Crowley is a blast to write and I can't wait until both McLeod siblings turn into dark creatures...oh the family reunions then! ;)

Thanks!

Yay, a Tara fan! I admit, being a Oz/Willow shipper I did not accept Tara until after the show ended and I rewatched S4 and S5 again. Now I adore her and am pleased to be writing her :)

current SN season has their grandfather saying the fam. has been hunters 'since the Mayflower' which to me indicates they were before as well...maybe there's a link here, too?
Kind of funny to think Anyanka is out & about at this time, too...and Darla for that matter.
A Tara-centric fic is rare--keep going! (I think people think she's so 'good' that there's no story there ie what could she possibly do that would be interesting or?
Comments from author:
You are bloody brilliant, AllenPitt!

I'm debating on the Winchester link, although I do have an idea...I used the Anya idea for chapter 4 (THANK YOU!) and gave her a fun pairing at the same time...And I'll have to think about using the Order of Aurealias - they may be too much fun to ignore ;)

I agree with you on people's POV on Tara - she is the 'most good' character on the show. However, this is so AU that I see lots of room to play :)

And thank you for the rec!! That has definitely encouraged me to keep writing this :D

That was amazing. When it got to the last card, do you realize, it described the final scene of The Gift?
Comments from author:
Thanks Luckie *blushes*

And yes, I did...although Lenore's Tower card will mean something different. However, I can't help but wonder if Whedon is knowledgable of the Tarot and was inspired by that card...hmm...
