Review of chapter "Meanwhile, back on Terra" from Alastor
Review:
Loving this story as always, I would actually be very interested in seeing Carter trying to get into a scientific discussion with Joyce or even better one of the kids that is taking advanced quantum physics as a primary course. Heh I'm just picturing her with a gaping mouth and having a near nervous break down trying to understand whatever mind boggling science they happen to be discussing. The only thing funnier than that would be the smack down that Joyce would give the Tollans or even the Asgard and any ascended ancient in scientific debate. I'm also definitely looking forward to the first encounter and smack down that the group will have with the goa'uld. I'm not too familiar with the french cartoon that you've crossed with this but every other ship listed would almost annihilate any goa'uld, especially since this is season 1 SG1 and long before Anubis started with his upgrades. Regardless this is always great the same as your other stories and I am looking forward to any updates that you might have for any of them. Keep up the good work! Update soon!

Thanks for the review, Alastor.

The 'science talk' is something that is planned as, at some point after contact with the fleet, Shunya Chidori will want SG-1 to meet his family, including a full-blown Whispered called Kaname.

As for Joyce... she has inherited a lot of Washu's ego, so...

For your final question on Once Upon a Time... Space, the global technology level should be compared to Star Wars in the Knights of the Old Republic/Revan era. Like Star Wars, they rely heavily on robots.

The series outlook, however is nearer from Star Trek. The Omega Confederacy is a kind of galactic UN, with the Space Police (based on planet Omega near the galactic core) acting as 'Blue Helmets' with real intervening authority. Cassiopeia, that could be roughly equaled to the Cardassians, starts the show as a part of the Confederacy, but quits when its dictator starts his expansionist program. Later in the show, the Great Computer plays a similar role to the Borgs.

Review of chapter "Meanwhile, back on Terra" from Rebask
Review:
Very good! I always look forward to updates of this, and it's nice to see how earth is handling the fallout. The focus on the physical effects of the town disappearing was neat, that kind of thing often gets ignored or hand waved.

I decided to poke at the Harlock universe, at least the parts that relate to this, and I'm kinda overwhelmed. The Anidb relations diagram shows some 26 entries. You said you're using the 'Endless Road SSX' series, and the 'Queen Emeraldas' OVA looks relevant. What do you recommend?
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review, Rebask,

On the physics: that's something I will try to keep... let's say believable.

For Harlock... Leiji Mastsumuto is notorious (or infamous depending on how you look at it) for his disregard of continuity between his series... though they take place, roughly, in the same universe. This can often get confusing as the different characters, Harlock included will have different background depending on the series.

In this story, I base myself on Endless Road SSX and add elements from the other series (like the Mazones or the fact Emeraldas and Maetel (from Galaxy Express 999) are sisters).

In this continuity, the Queen Emeraldas OVA can be considered to take place after SSX and it gives a good feeling on the different Harlock stories.

Awesome to see a new chapter. :) We get a peek at what's going on in the aftermath on earth in this chapter. The only well /possible/ error that I really noticed was that you seemed to have had the stargate open on the sixth chevron instead of the seventh.
Comments from author:
Thanks for pointing this, CageFire. I removed a paragraph in that area when I cleaned 'junk text' and the sentence got caught in the crossfire. I'll fix it now.

Review:
Nice to see how the world and the SGC are reacting to the event. I like how you setting the stage for Kinsey to be an even bigger pain to the SGC but at the same time with the teams looking for some evidence of what happened to the SDF-1 it also looks likes it will make it that much harder for him to shut them down like he did at the end of season 1.

Overall, Nice update. can't wait to see where you take things from here.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review, Maltor.

Kinsey is such a part of the Stargate universe I could not not use him at some point.

Good chapter and a nice showing on how things stand on Earth.
Was Loki nearby?

Now I really am waiting on the "overkill, what is that? I only know about fire untill it´s gone." typo saying to rear it´s head.
Anyway, till the next time.

For Loki... perhaps, perhaps not.

Oh, reactions back home, finally! Interesting. I would have guessed that now is the best time to disclose stargate (to pacify population) and that disclosing it later, after such an attack, would become problematic. But, oh well. Also, Kinsey now can't argue for closing the gate, since the attack has already happened.

Write more, this is good.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review yog.

I agree with you on the disclose, but estimated this decision became a victim of bureaucratic inertia and fear of the other nations' reaction

Review of chapter "The dead planet - part 3" from Aenea
Review:
This story is great, just wondering what season of SG1 the fleet will intersect with the SGC. That and I'm wondering what the reaction to the sudden sinkhole that is SunnyD had on the US and the Watcher's and well the whole fact that Key Dawn is about as close as you get to her being Tokimi's daughter. Any chance they'll run into the Asgard soon, Buffy's energy release would be sure to get their attention despite the war with the replicators. Heh guess I'm wondering a lot, so many ways this story could go can't wait to read them.

Thanks for the review, Aenea.

The next chapter should answer to some of your questions (and probably raise many others)

Review:
I have been meaning to ask this question for awhile now, but I keep forget. Anyway, Is there a different between The-Power-That-Be and the Ascended Ancient? I know both of them are higher form of being and live in a higher plane of existence, and both predated demon and human history. However, both group are totally different, TPTB recruit, contact and manipulate their champion. Just as Drusilla thought, 'Their habit to scheme things to death was one of them, and what happened at Halloween had certainly thrown a huge wrench in their carefully laid plans. Teleporting an ‘untainted’ Angel out of there was a way for them to salvage what they could.'

While Ascended Ancient have rule about none interfere in mortal realm, and if rule get broken they will get punish by 'The Other'. If they are both different, I wonder if they both live in one of many different level planes of existence? Like TPTB looking out for the Terran and supervises that realm, while Ascended Ancient live in different planes and have none interference law. Just like 3D, who serves under Lady Tokimi and supervises the third dimension in the Tenchi Muyo! universe; while, other like him supervises the 4th dimension and so on and so forth.

In Stargate Universe it was said that there are various planes of existence not only dictate to the powers of an Ascended Being has, but also his/her level of understanding the universe, or his/her degree of "enlightenment". The higher level of ascension at which a being exists, the more power, knowledge, and understanding of the universe he possesses. In Tenchi Muyo, Ryo-Ohki! Universe also have countless plane of existence that are supervises by a higher being, with the Three Chousin having the highest level of authority and the creator of Tenchi Muyo! Universe and its many dimensions.

So, what I wanted to know next is, if both the TPTB and Ascended Ancient are the same race of being, but live in different plane of existence? Or, they are both born in the different races and live in different level plane of existence?

Mmmm....I wonder if they going to meet the Asgard or the Nox next. Though, if they do meet the Asgard will Professor Joyce be able to help the Asgard solve their cloning problem? She does have the brain power to be able to do it. I like the little guy, I don't want them die. Massive suicides, what a waste.

By the way, what happen? Why is the story remove from this site?

Wonderful chapter, by the way.

Till next time.

Thanks for the review, Tashio

For the matter of the story going missing for a day, the matter was regarding the character list I had posted as a chapter. As this is against the site rules, the story was quarantined. I transferred the chapter in a series introduction page and now everything is back to normal.

For the other matter, think Ori and Alterans. In the Traveller Universe, both groups have the same origins, but differing philosophies and planes of residence.

Awesome new chapter. And as others have said, thanks for the character list. I'm still not familiar with all the series but at least I know where to look if I really need to. I will greatly be looking forward to future chapters. :)

Thanks for the review CageFire. I had to move the character list in a series introduction page (I posted a link in the beginning of the chapter) due to site rules.

Hmm, nice update and thanks for the character list. The only problem with this fic is the fact that you've got so many characters running around that it's hard to keep track of them and all of them straight. This will help with the second part of the problem, only we can deal with the first. Well, thanks for writing this, bye for now.

Review of chapter "The dead planet - part 2" from jimk
Review:
This is a really great fic with one really screwed up aspect that will probably keep me from reading any more for now at least. Changing canon characters names is a huge scew up. I'm not complaining about the length of time between updates at all but you have to realize that by now I have no clue WhoTF the characters are. Was that Buffy or not? I don't remember. Expecting people to reread the entire story each time you release a new chapter is ridiculous but that is what it would take to keep up with this. All because you changed many of the character names.

I've yet to read a fic where changing canon characters names in any way improves the story. The only times I've seen it work well was where the author would use both the old and the new name interchangeably such as other characters would refer to the person using the new name but the narrative voice would still use the original or real name.

Oh well, I'll keep an eye on this and maybe if you finish it then I'll go back and read it.

Edit: A character list at least of the characters whose names are completely changed versus say someone say such as Dawn would definitely help. It would still be a little pain and at least in my opinion the total name change still hurts the story at least in a readability sense. However, a minor pain, compared to the current royal pain, would make a big difference to me in the sense that this is a very awesome fic so tolerating a minor pain to read it would be worth it.
Comments from author:
Thanks for the review jimk,

I have several reasons to implement that name change. The most important in my opinion are in-universe, related to the gain and loss of identity these characters suffered.

Using the name interchangeably as you suggest can work for some of them, but I think it would destroy this sense of loss for many others, that idea that the change is irrevocable.

Now, I understand your point of view, the one of the reader's comfort. I try to write my stories to give enough information to be enjoyable even for people who do not know the series I use (even BtVS). I agree that the episodic nature of chapter upload makes this difficult.

As an help in the form of a character list was asked by another Reviewer, this is something I will upload and keep as the last chapter to lessen spoilers.

I will prepare that list and upload it with the next chapter.

Hmm, missed the update, been busy. Well, after rereading the whole thing, cause it's just so good that it deserves it, that and I'm sick and bored, I must say that you're doing an excellent job on this fic. Oh, and for some unknown reason, I really liked that last scene that the Mayor was in. It foreshadowed interesting thing for the future, well to me at least. Thanks for writing this, bye for now.
