Review of chapter "Balanced Origin" from Orchamus
Review:
Blada blada blada, that's all I hear from Buffy's mouth. Seriously, get over the angst, stop being a necrophiliac, and stop bleaching your brains out. Gods girl! Anyway, nice history, that was rather well done. Rather interested in how Xander stacks against Old Ones and Hell gods now though.
Comments from author:
Keep in mind that Buffy has essentially a death sentence riding on her head all the time. Not only that but she can't really enjoy her life because her calling is incredibly dangerous, and if she doesn't do it others will most certainly die. Well, even more people will die. Anyway, the point is that she has reason to be angsty, not trying to justify her attitude, but she has cause.

Can't defend the necrophilia, or bleach. Not even going to try.

As for Old Ones and Hell Gods... Xander, or more accurately the Witchblade, has a certain facet of power, and it is useful, certainly, but only a small portion of what they are/were. Xander himself hasn't been powered up keep that in mind. He can be healed by the Witchblade, but he isn't any more durable than a normal human and significantly less than a Slayer like Buffy. He also still has those human limitations. He doesn't react faster or gain immediate fighting ability. He's going to have to work on that stuff the hard way. As it stands now Glory could kill him in five seconds, her speed and strength would assure that, her durability wouldn't factor into it.

Did you really have to have your OC rant on about the flaws of a given universe? Fucking hate that.

Review:
It's good but the Golem thing seems, well pointless and stupid.
I'd think after the Xander's MPD phase she isn't thinking Xander can have a normal life.

It just seems like a gimmick to force artificial drama into the situation.

Also does the Witch Blade have all of the powers the comic version had?
Comments from author:
The Golem was something I put in not too long before sending it to my beta. It shouldn't have much of an impact on the story.

I'm going to presume that MPD is not Metropolitan Police Department. I'm not good with acronyms. A friend said it was probably Multiple Personality Disorder, so I'll go with that. Remember that Buffy wants Xander to have a normal life as possible, that means NOT piling more stuff on when he seems to be at a low point, as he is now, which is what she sees Syeira trying to do. Or worse trying to use Xander for something else.

The Witchblade has all the transformative powers the comic one had, armor, weapons, lock picks, etc. Energy blasts are possible, but dangerous and rather unpredictable. It cannot raise the dead as the comic one did a few times, nor grant visions of 'great trauma'. It does have other senses though and its method of communicating the strange things it perceives can be unusual. It can also grant visions from past wielders, but not all of them until every fragment of the Witchblade is recovered, a great many are there, but lots still aren't, so fragments of its history are unknown for the moment. Not set on the ability to touch incorporeal creatures yet, but I'm leaning towards yes.

Great story, I just found it. I like the way it built up. I was expecting the personalities to merge when the witch blade showed, but I was surprised at how quickly it came. Surprised in a good way that is. Hope to read more soon.

So far I am enjoying this story. It's not the normal make xander a badass YAHF. You make him more normal. And the way things happen make more sense.
I look forward to more.

Thanks.

Wohoo! Team Four Star, DBZ Abriged! Best thing to hit YouTube in a long time! So wait...does this mean that Xander will constantly be reduced to wearing his undergarments in big fights? That'd be funny I admit it. You never answered my Rule 63 question. :D
Comments from author:
Eh, I wouldn't say undergarments. It's more commonly known as 'tatters' or possibly 'rags'. But that's for big fights. He'll end up with ripped shirts more often than pants because lets face it, he wears light weight fabric shirts which don't typically stand up to that much in any case. His pants will take a bit more abuse, but he'll need to start making a jar for clothes money and buy some things in bulk. Not to mention getting in even better shape so that he doesn't embarrass himself.

You're right, I didn't answer the Rule 63 question... and I won't. Don't get your panties in a bunch. I'm mostly saying that because I don't know. I won't say it won't happen, because honestly, I might throw it out there if I felt the need or desire.

Anyway, as much as I appreciate you padding the reviews and all I'm not in favor of artificially inflating them. I'm not asking you to stop reviewing my stuff, but if you want to message me, there should be a link in my profile.

Review:
No, NO! Hope wasn't retconned out! Sara was retconned out of being her mother! You can see it in the latest issue with the picture shift. Jackie Estacado did that, I haven't had the chance to read Artefacts but I will.

As for Xander and Sara's spine...yeah in my defence it was several years since I started reading Witchblade(God Sara is always Gorgeous, I'm still holding out for a Rule 63 at some point) I guess I got a bit too accustomed to the Sara that kills Greater Daemons and Gods with just a little difficulty!

You really need to bring back the head-voices! Oh wouldn't the Toth daemons seperation wand be funny to write about!
Comments from author:
Oh! Thanks for the correction. I haven't been able to get the latest few issues of either Artifacts or Witchblade. I heard about Hope being retconned out by a friend. I'll have to look into it.

No worries about forgetting Sara's initial problems, the first comics were pretty much explicitly T&A (No complaints there) with lose plot and powers tacked on (BONUS!). It was Michael Turner's excuse to do "Hey! Look what I can draw!" And it was surprisingly successful. (Really, 1995, T&A in super hero comics being successful. Who thought that would happen?) I don't consider the comics actually getting 'good' until past issue 50 and even then the real upswing wasn't until Ron Marz took up the writing at issue 80. But I occasionally do go back and read the original issues because fuck it, I'm a fan boy, and I will be first in line for a fucking Witchblade movie if they can do it right.

Xander has a way to go before he can start dishing it out heavy to the Greater Demons and Gods. As for the Gemini Stick, what a fuck up that'll be. Not sure where Xander will be at that point, but screw it. If it hits him, I'll make sure that it is a cracktastic chapter, because that shit deserves to be.

PS: Sorry my style on this Comment is a bit different. Been watching Dragon Ball Abridged, and that shit turns me into a writing bastard for a few hours after intake.
